    • A building structure comprises an outer shell of adjustable dimensions to define a substantially enclosed space. A section at least of the outer shell has a rigid lower frame including structural beams permanently mounted in foundations and defining a lower shell portion. A rigid upper frame defines an upper shell portion and includes structural beams arranged slidably to engage the structural beams of the lower frame. Each of the beams is formed with a longitudinal side flange and is arranged in slidably engagement pairs. Guide means are provided for fitting around the edges of adjacent side flanges of the beams for holding the beams in sliding engagement. Bolts or clamps are provided for fixing the upper portion relative to the lower portion in the raised position at least.

The device includes a structure that receives a sample portion of breath, and a gas sensor in communication with the structure that detects a gas level of a gas within the sample portion and provides a first signal indicative of the level. The device further includes circuitry coupled at least indirectly to the gas sensor, where the circuitry receives at least one of the first signal and a second signal related to the first signal, and where the circuitry provides at least some assistance in determining whether a portion of information provided by the at least one signal is used as an indication of an alveolar gas level. Additionally, the device includes an output device coupled to the circuitry that provides an output indicative of the first alveolar gas level.

    • Paperboard sheets are fed by a feeder including driven wheels which engage the lowermost sheet of a stack and drive it through the nip rolls of a box-finishing machine in synchronism with the latter. Supporting the sheets is a grate moveable between a raised position wherein the wheels are spaced from the sheet and a lowered position wherein the lowermost sheet engages the wheels and is fed thereby to the nip rolls. Below the grate is a vacuum box for holding the sheet on the wheels. Raising and lowering of the grate is effected by a cam which may be adjusted to vary the feed stroke in accordance with the length of the sheets. For driving the wheels there is provided a dual input drive mechanism including a constant velocity such that when the wheels initially engage the sheet, the wheels are at nearly zero or absolute zero velocity and subsequently the wheels reach a constant velocity for driving the sheet at said constant velocity which is matched with the surface velocity of the nip rolls. In an alternative embodiment, the feeder may be adjusted to feed either a single sheet or a plurality of sheets per cycle of the associated box-finishing machine.

    • Apparatus for mounting a flexible printing plate comprises a printing cylinder having a surface upon which the printing plate is mountable, and a connection for applying subatmospheric pressure inside the cylinder. A plurality of valves selectively apply the subatmospheric pressure to the surface from inside the cylinder. These valves have depressable actuating members protrudable above the cylinder surface. Those actuating members contacted by the printing plate when applied to the cylinder surface are depressed thereby to effect application of subatmospheric pressure to beneath the printing plate to draw the plate against the cylinder. Preferably, grooves are provided in the cylinder surface for distribution of the subatmospheric pressure beneath the plate. Advantageously, the printing plate may have a thin, highly flexible and deformable fringe along its trailing edge to seal the surface grooves, at that location. This mounting arrangement facilitates quick changing of printing plates during printing operations.

Raising and lowering of the grate is effected by a cam which may be adjusted to vary the feed stroke in accordance with the length of the sheets. For driving the wheels there is provided a dual input drive mechanism including a constant velocity input drive and a variable input drive which are resolved at a single output drive to the wheels. The output drive varies in velocity such that when the wheels initially engage the sheet, the wheels are at nearly zero or absolute zero velocity and subsequently the wheels reach a constant velocity for driving the sheet at said constant velocity which is matched with the surface velocity of the nip rolls. In an alternative embodiment, the feeder may be adjusted to feed either a single sheet or a plurality of sheets per cycle of the associated box-finishing machine.

    • Apparatus for stacking paperboard blanks including a timed conveyor utilizing vacuum pressure to hold the blanks by their leading edges beneath the conveyor and serially advance them against a backstop whereupon they are released by the vacuum to settle upon an elevator which lowers incrementally as a stack of blanks is formed thereon. When the stack is completed, interrupter tines move over the stack and under the conveyor to store oncoming blanks while the stack is discharged from the elevator after which is rises. As the tines withdraw, the stored blanks settle on the elevator and subsequent blanks form another stack. A counter is used to energize operation of the tines to form stacks of a predetermined number of blanks on the elevator. An inclined conveyor utilizing vacuum belts is used to feed the blanks into engagement with the timed conveyor.
