摘要： A display device capable of displaying a standby screen on a display panel with various colors in a standby mode, and a method for controlling the same are disclosed. The display device includes a display panel including pixels, gate lines and data lines connected to the pixels and a common line connected to the pixels, a gate switching unit for connecting the gate lines in response to an external standby mode signal, a data switching unit for grouping the data lines in response to the standby mode signal and connecting the data lines belonging to the same group, and a standby mode driving unit for driving the gate lines in response to the standby mode signal and driving the data lines of at least one group and the common line so as to generate a potential difference between the data lines of the group and the common line.
