摘要： A unitary sanitary disposable absorbent incontinence pad has an elongated absorbent member between a pervious cover topsheet and an impervious backsheet. The absorbent member includes an absorbent batt which contains a combination of cellulose fibers and thermally-bondable fibers. A melt-blown web is superimposed on the batt. A portion of each lateral side of the batt is slit and turned inwardly toward the center of the batt to form a pair of fluid-barriers or dams, creating a fluid channel therebetween. The melt-blown web lies between the dams on top of the batt. Preferably the melt-blown web includes inturned side edges which may create a second channel therebetween. The assembly of batt and web are particularly effective for moving fluid longitudinally in said pad and preventing leakage along the sides of the pad.

摘要： An absorbent disposable sanitary product such as a disposable baby diaper has an absorbent core and a multi-ply body-contacting topsheet. The construction of the diaper reduces raw material consumption and also waste at the source of manufacture and, therefore, is environmentally attractive. One of the plys of the topsheet contacts the body but not the core, and another contacts the absorbent core, as well as the body, with a space between the plys. The body-contacting ply has a plurality of upstanding cuffs which improve fecal containment, and the space between the plys reduces wet-back. The thickness of the multi-ply body-contacting topsheet is less than the thickness of conventional, single ply, nonwoven topsheets.

摘要： A disposable waste-containment garment such as a disposable diaper, an external incontinent protection garment for adults (e.g. adult incontinent briefs), an external catamenial, or a disposable liner for either a disposable diaper or an incontinent brief. The garment, which may be elasticized by, for example, having elasticized leg cuffs and waistbands, comprises an absorbent core comprising substantially unbonded fibers disposed between a liquid permeable lamina and a liquid impermeable backsheet, and the liquid permeable lamina and the absorbent core are bonded together in face to face relation with an open pattern of adhesive: preferably a fine scale reticulated network of filaments of pressure sensitive hot melt adhesive having a weight of from about one-half (1/2) milligram to about three (3) milligrams per square inch (from about 0.8 to about 4.7 grams per square meter) but, more preferably, from about one-and-three-tenths (1.3) milligrams to about two-and-three-tenths (2.3) milligrams per square inch (from about 2.0 to about 3.6 grams per square meter) and, most preferably, about two (2) milligrams per square inch (about 3.1 grams per square meter). In a preferred embodiment of such a garment, the liquid permeable lamina is a portion of a wet-strength-tissue envelope in which the absorbent core is disposed and secured; and the core further comprises elements of highly liquid absorbent matter which elements may be fibrous or particulate or the like in form. Additionally, such garments may further comprise additional laminae which may also be adhesively secured together or to the above enumerated elements: preferably in the manner in which the lamina described above is adhesively secured to the absorbent core.
