    • An encryption key distribution method capable of performing fast roaming by differentially distributing encryption keys in advance, according to access authorization classes, in a wireless access network and a roaming method using distributed encryption keys are provided. The encryption key distribution method comprises: receiving a command to communicate with an access point not available for communication using an encryption key currently selected in the encryption key set; determining access authorization of the access point not available for communications; selecting an encryption key from the encryption key set obtained in advance corresponding to the determined access authorization; and using the selected encryption key to encrypt a transmission message and communicate with the access point not available for communication. The method reduces the delay time, which is caused by encryption key distribution while a wireless terminal is traveling, such that roaming and a hand-off are carried out quickly and safely, and user convenience and safe transmission of data are achieved.

    • A cryptographic method using dual encryption keys and a wireless local area network (LAN) system therefor includes (a) generating a first group key in N wireless terminals forming an ad-hoc group, where N is equal to or greater than two, (b) generating a second group key in a main wireless terminal to perform a key distribution center function among the N wireless terminals, and transmitting the second group key to (N−1) sub wireless terminal, and (c) encoding data using the second group key, and transmitting the encoded data between the N wireless terminals. Data security in a wireless LAN system of an ad-hoc network is increased by creating a first group key having a low frequency of use using a group password, and using a random key generation algorithm to create, distribute, and modify a second group key in a wireless terminal functioning as a key distribution center.

    • In a system for sharing hybrid resources in an independent network, each one of a plurality of stations preferably employs a sharing authority transferring protocol that allows the network control function to be moved from station to station depending on the network traffic. Although a distributed coordination method is normally used in the network, when an individual station determines that a real-time data stream is intended for the station, an apparatus having a method and data format for the use thereof allows control to be transferred to the targeted station. This allows the targeted station to control the sharing of the wireless hybrid resources using a centralized control method in a direct mode for the duration of the real-time service transmission, thereby optimizing network efficiency. As a result of using the distributed control authority of the present invention, a station may be freely subscribe/withdraw to/from the network.

    • A method for transmitting data in a centralized data communications system having an access point and a plurality of stations using a carrier sense multiplexing access (CSMA) method using a backoff number control preferably includes (a) receiving a multi-poll message containing backoff numbers to be assigned to each station by the access point; (b) setting the backoff numbers of the multi-poll message to the backoff numbers of the stations; and (c) counting down the set backoff numbers and transmitting data. Each station that desires polling registers a station ID and a polling cycle, sets a backoff number contained in a multi-poll message, counts the backoff number, and if the backoff number becomes zero, transmits data such that contention between stations is prevented.
