    • A multi-disk brake for an automatic transmission having a plurality of annular outer lamellae having a larger diameter and a plurality of annular inner lamellae having a smaller diameter, the outer and inner lamellae being alternately arranged and interleaved in the axial direction. The outer lamellae are splined to the transmission case while the inner lamellae are rotatably supported on the case. The multi-disk brake has an engagement/disengagement mechanism capable of pressing the outer and inner lamellae so as to bring the same into frictional engagement and capable of disengaging and releasing the outer and inner lamellae from each other. A support member is inserted into the lowermost portion of an annular gap formed between outer the peripheral surfaces of the outer lamellae and the inner peripheral surface of the case, the support member supporting the outer lamellae biases them upward, thereby preventing any rotational drag motion of the outer lamellae.

    • A hydraulic control device for an automatic transmission capable of adjusting the amount of lubricating oil in accordance with a load on a torque converter is provided. A main regulator valve regulates hydraulic oil from an oil pressure source on the basis of a stator reaction force of the torque converter to generate a line pressure for operating engagement of a frictional engagement element. A line pressure switching section switches the line pressure to a low line pressure in a region in which a higher line pressure is not required in response to a driving state of a vehicle, and switches the line pressure to a high line pressure when a target value of an engagement hydraulic oil pressure exceeds a predetermined pressure. A lubricating regulator valve is provided in a lubricating oil passage connected from the main regulator valve to regulate a hydraulic pressure in the lubricating oil passage to a given pressure in response to a driving state of the vehicle. A torque converter regulator valve controls a pressure inside the torque converter. A lubricating shift valve switches between an oil passage for supplying hydraulic oil discharged from the torque converter into the lubricating oil passage and an oil passage for discharging lubricating oil discharged from the torque converter regulator valve.

    • An ultrasonic sensor includes a resin substrate and an ultrasonic oscillator. The ultrasonic oscillator is provided approximately at the center of a component side of the resin substrate and generates and detects an ultrasonic wave. The resin substrate is made of, for example, a polycarbonate resin, i.e., the same material as a car bumper, and is shaped into a flat plate. The component side of the resin substrate is provided with a pad 11 adjacent to the ultrasonic oscillator. The pad is used for metal wiring based on wire bonding. The pad is made of a hard metal material excellent in conductivity and heat resistance such as stainless steel, and Al or Al alloy, for example. The resin substrate is formed as a single piece through insert molding by pouring a melted resin. Through this process, the pad is provided for the component side of the resin substrate.
