Each structured document has at least one element in common and each element is capable of having one defined data object. At least one table is generated based on a schema of elements in the managed structured documents. Further, at least one table is designed to include entries for each element instance in the managed structured documents and at least one object for one element instance. For each element instance in the managed structured documents, one entry is added to at least one table including information on an element identifier for the element instance, the data object for the element instance, and a document identifier for the structured document including the element instance. The at least one table provides an association of the element instance, the at least one data object for the element instance, and the document identifier of the structured document including the element instance.

摘要： A customer record is generated to include fields specifying at least one product, customer preferences, and a selected delivery option indicating a method to deliver generated output material on the product. A job record including a status field is added to a job status table and set to a first status. A first worker is invoked if the selected job has the first status to generate output material from processing the product and customer preference fields in the customer record for the selected job. The status for the selected job in the job status table is set to a second status after generating the output material with the first worker. A second worker is invoked if the selected job has the second status to determine whether a selected one of a plurality of delivery options from the customer record for the selected job and transmits the output material via the determined delivery option to the customer specified in the customer record.

摘要： The present invention discloses a system for organizing files associated with a job ticket, including raster image process (RIP) files. The files and job ticket are in a storage device attached to a computer system. The job ticket includes information on print files included in a print job, print file location information indicating a location of the print files in the storage device, and RIP file location information indicating a location of the RIP version of a print file in the storage device. The print files include data representing graphical images and the RIP version is generated from the print file. When the job ticket is submitted for printing, a RIP version is submitted in lieu of the print file if the RIP version was modified after the print file was modified. Any generated RIP versions may be saved in the storage device with their location indicated in the RIP file location information.

摘要： The present invention allows data objects to be tagged with secondary resources that specify rendering attributes, such as color profiles. A method, data structure and apparatus provides object level management using tagged secondary resources. Rendering control (color space selection, in this case) of the primary datastream (AFP, in this case) is provided to heterogeneous objects (PostScript Level 1 color images, in this case). The present invention provides a method for the primary datastream to include the source calibration parameters, i.e., the rendering control, without modifying the heterogeneous object. For example, if the threshold matrix for the halftoning is tagged as a resource to the image object, the rendering process can use this specific matrix when the image is halftoned and presented.

Upon specifying a specific combination, an animation, embedded in the graphical user interface and within the dialog for making the selection, shows the page layout and rotates the sheet, about the applicable axis of the sheet, from front to back to show how the selected page layout would appear. Numbers on the animated sheet are used to show the layout of sequential pages. Numbers are used instead of displaying specific page content. The animation gives a clear practical way of visually conveying to a user how a specified page layout combination would appear when printed.

摘要： A system, method, and program of this invention enable a user to create a new file that is like a pre-existing file. When a file menu option, referred to herein as “New Like”, is selected by a user, an “Open” dialog is displayed to a user which enables the user to specify any pre-existing file to be opened. When the pre-existing file is opened as the new file, the new file is opened without the pre-existing file name being associated with the new file. The new file contains a subportion of the data of the pre-existing file that has been designated to be copied from the pre-existing file to the new file upon the opening of the specified pre-existing file. Upon saving the new file for the first time, the user interface requires the user to save the new file under a new file name. As such, any pre-existing file can be used as a template for a new file without any accidental modifications to the pre-existing file and without managing special template files.

摘要： The present invention concerns a method, apparatus, and article of manufacture for creating a job ticket on a computer, wherein the job ticket includes information on components and print attributes of a print job. The created job ticket includes an identification record including information identifying the job ticket, a document record including information on a document included in the print job and print attributes for the document, and an item record including information on an item that is a component of the document and print attributes for the item. The item may be a print image file. The job ticket may further include a record including information on scheduling options for the print job. The item record is arranged in a lower hierarchical relationship to the document record such that the print attributes for the document apply to the item. After creating the job ticket, the present invention processes the job ticket and, then, transmits the processed job ticket to a printer. A GUI program may be installed on the computer used to create the job ticket. In such case, the user would use an input device, such as a mouse pointer and keyboard, to enter information in the job ticket records.
