    • A method and a device for determining a statistical parameter for all frequencies of a frequency distribution of signal levels of a test signal registered respectively in several observation intervals counts the frequency of the signal level of the test signal measured in each case within the respective signal-level range and at the respective value of the time or frequency raster of the frequency distribution from new within every observation interval, and buffers it for display on a display device. After every observation interval, for every signal-level range and every value of the time or frequency raster of the frequency distribution, the respective statistical parameter from the respective, newly-buffered frequency and all respective frequencies measured and buffered at earlier observation intervals is determined and buffered.

    • The invention relates to a method and to a switching device (4) and a measurement system (1). In the method according to the invention for determining time differences between measurement signals measured by at least two couple measurement devices (2, 3), a time basis signal is first generated for the measurement devices (2, 3). A common reference signal is further generated by a signal generator (5). The common reference signal is fed to measurement signal inputs (8, 9) of the coupled measuring devices (2, 3) via the switching device (4). A measurement signal is then fed to said measurement signal inputs (8, 9) of the coupled measuring devices (2, 3) and the time position of the measurement signals relative to the reference signal is determined in each of the coupled measuring devices (2, 3). The switching device (4), to this end, has a first measuring device connection (12) and a second measuring device connection (13) connected to the measurement signal inputs (8, 9) of the first measuring device (2) and the second measuring device (3). A reference signal is alternately fed via the measuring device connections (12, 13) of the switching device (4) to the first or the second measuring device (2, 3) by connecting the first measuring device connection (12) to the reference signal input (22) or a first measuring connection (14), or by connecting the second measuring device connection (13) to the reference signal input (22) or the second measuring connection (15).

    • A method of controlling preferences of a mobile telephone includes associating one or more user-settable preferences with a location or geographic area. The one or more preferences is applied to operation of the mobile telephone when the mobile telephone is at the location or geographic area. In one embodiment, the method includes associating one or more user-settable preferences with an electronic device having a known identity; detecting presence of the electronic device; and applying the one or more preferences associated with the electronic device to operation of the mobile telephone. In another embodiment, the method includes associating one or more user-settable preferences with a segment of time; and during the segment of time, applying the one or more preferences associated with the segment of time to operation of the mobile telephone.

    • A method is described for determining a time offset of a CDMA signal incurred during transfer. For each of a plurality of time offset estimates, the received chip sequence is multiplied with a conjugate complex scrambling code that is shifted by a number of chips according to one of the time offset estimates; the chip sequence is despreaded based on a spreading code of at least one selected data channel to produce a symbol sequence, and an estimated amplification factor is determined by summation of an amount of the symbol sequence. The maximum of the amplification factors for the time offset estimates when a selected data channel is active, or the minimum of the amplification factors for the time offset estimates when the selected data channel is not active is then determined.
