    • An air bag device includes an air bag, an inflator, a pad, a bag holder, and a retaining plate. The pad has a top wall covering the bag while the bag is in a folded position, and a substantially cylindrical side wall extending from the top wall near its outer edge along an axial direction with respect to a steering wheel column. The side wall has a plurality of pawl holes. The bag holder holds the air bag and is situated radially inward with respect to the side wall of the pad. The bag holder has a plurality of outwardly protruding pawls, each pawl being received by one of the mounting holes of the pad. The side wall of the pad has a first portion not adjacent to the retaining plate and a second portion adjacent to the retaining plate. The pawls protruding through the holes in the first portion of the pad side wall have a protruding length larger than that of the pawls protruding through the holes in its second portion, so as to enhance the ease of assembling the pad to the bag holder.

    • A horn switch mechanism of a steering wheel comprises a stationary contact plate having a locking hole, a movable contact plate having a base portion fixed to the stationary contact plate and contact portions extending upward from the base portion, a depressing plate disposed above the movable contact plate, a horn pad disposed above the depressing plate. The depressing plate is connected to a lead wire electrically connected to the horn control circuit. An electrical insulation spacer made of sythetic resin having spring elasticity is disposed between the stationary contact plate and the movable contact plate. The electrical insulation spacer comprises a base member, a projection piece projecting from side portion of the base member through a thin or hinge portion for holding upper and lower surfaces of the base portion of the movable contact plate in cooperation with the base member during bending at the thin or hinge portion, and a locking leg locked to peripheral edge of the locking hole of the stationary contact plate.

    • A steering wheel with an air bag device where the inflating charge is easily detonated prior to disposed of an automobile into scrap. The steering wheel has an air bag device, located at an upper center of the steering wheel, and a lower cover. The air bag device includes an inflator for expanding the air bag, and is connected by wiring to a source of an electrical actuation signal. The lower cover has a holder for holding part of a plug type connector on a side wall of the lower cover. A part or the whole of the side wall, having a holder, can be removed easily to permit the plug connector and the connection portion connected to the inflator to be readily exposed.

    • A wheel cap includes a disk-shaped base made of resin, a plurality of resin engagers integral with the base and disposed at intervals in a circumferential direction on the rear surface of the base and protruding perpendicularly therefrom so as to be deformable in a radial direction, a head formed at the free end of the leg to engage with a wheel, and a ring-shaped metal wire holder held on an inner peripheral side of the engagers and urging the heads radially outward, wherein each head includes a space for holding the holder therein, the space being disposed on an inner peripheral side of the head and including an opening thereto for receiving the holder having a width about equal to or slightly less than the wire diameter of the holder, the dimension of holder space perpendicularly of the base is larger than the holder wire diameter so that the holder is movable in the space perpendicularly with respect to the base. Even when the wheel cap is subjected to a shock and is moved eccentrically, the holder can relieve the eccentric displacement and will not come out of the holder space via the opening because it can move in the space and the holder-receiving opening is restricted. Hence, the wheel cap is greatly inhibited from coming off the wheel.
