摘要： An object of the present invention is to provide a method of modifying a blood contact material capable of reducing granulocyte activating action of the blood contact material in medical equipment used for parts which get contact with the blood. The present invention provides a method of modifying blood contact material characterized by granulocyte activating action when in contact with blood,the modifying blood contact material is considerably reduced compared with an original blood contact material by immobilizing a tryptophan derivative and a polyanionic compound to the blood contact material. Examples of the tryptophan derivative include tryptophan. Further, examples of the polyanionic compound include dextran sulfate.

摘要： The present invention has its object to provide a direct hemoperfusion adsorber packed with an adsorbent made by using a water-insoluble carrier having a relatively readily available particle size distribution, with water-insoluble microparticles having been removed therefrom, without needing any special granulation apparatus or coating apparatus, and method of obtaining a direct hemoperfusion adsorbent having water-insoluble microparticles removed therefrom.Now, a direct hemoperfusion adsorber has been obtained that is packed with an adsorbent having a number average particle diameter of not smaller than 300 μm but not larger than 600 μm, with the coefficient of variance in particle diameter distribution being not lower than 10% but not higher than 20%, and having water-insoluble microparticles removed therefrom to a safe level, without the loss of the adsorbent, by using a water-insoluble microparticle-removing-mesh such that the ratio of the mesh opening size for removing water-insoluble microparticles to the mesh opening size of the adsorber is not lower than 1.3 but not higher than 1.5.

摘要： The present invention provides an adsorbent, an adsorption method, and an adsorber for efficiently adsorbing low-density lipoproteins and fibrinogen directly from a body fluid, particularly whole blood, to decrease the concentrations of these components in the body fluid with minimizing losses of useful substances such as HDL and albumin. The adsorbent includes a tryptophan derivative and a polyanionic compound which are immobilized on a water-insoluble porous carrier, wherein the amount of the immobilized polyanionic compound is 0.10 μmol to 1.5 μmol per milliliter of wet volume of the adsorbent, and the molar ratio of the amount of the immobilized tryptophan derivative to the amount of the immobilized polyanionic compound is 1 to 70. The adsorbent is capable of whole blood treatment for safely and efficiently adsorbing low-density lipoproteins and fibrinogen.
