摘要： In a bearing apparatus for a wheel in which a hub, a constant velocity universal joint and double rows of bearings are united and one inner raceway of double rows of inner raceways, of the double rows of bearings is integrally formed with an outer joint member of the constant velocity universal joint, a stem portion of the outer joint member is fitted to the hub, an unevenness portion is formed on an inner peripheral surface of the hub or an outer peripheral surface of the stem portion or both thereof, and the hub and the outer joint member are plastically connected by expanding the hollow stem portion from an inner diameter side to an outer diameter side by caulking. Accordingly, the fitted portions of the hub and the outer joint member are prevented from being loosened.

摘要： A wheel bearing device having a unitized hub ring, double-row bearing and constant velocity universal joint with one of double-row inner raceways formed on the joint outer ring. An end portion of the joint outer ring is fitted to an outside periphery of the hub ring through serrated portions. The hub ring is plastically deformed and expanded from an inside diameter side toward an outside diameter side by pushing a steel ball into a through hole of the hub ring preventing play in the serrated portions by the diameter expansion. A surface-hardened layer is formed at least on a base portion of the wheel mounting flange.

The body mounting flange is formed with a plurality of screw apertures. An inner side flange surface of the body mounting flange is formed by machining to have a flat vertical surface relative to a longitudinal axis of a wheel hub. An outer side flange surface of the body mounting flange is formed by forging to have a tapered surface of a predetermined inclined angle. Thus, the thickness of the body mounting flange is gradually reduced radially outward.

摘要： A vehicle wheel bearing apparatus has an outer member formed on its outer circumference with a body mounting flange to be mounted on a suspension of a vehicle. Its inner circumference includes double row outer raceway surfaces. An inner member includes a wheel hub formed on one end with a wheel mounting flange. A cylindrical portion axially extends from the flange. An inner ring or an outer joint member of a constant velocity universal joint is press-fit onto the outer circumference of the wheel hub. The inner ring is formed on its outer circumference with inner raceway surfaces arranged opposite to the double row outer raceway surfaces. Double row rolling elements are freely rollably contained between the outer and inner raceway surfaces of the outer and inner members, via cages. Seals are mounted within annular openings formed between the outer and the inner members. A backup seal is fit onto the outer circumference of the outer side end of the outer member. The backup seal has a metal core that includes a cylindrical fitting portion and an upstanding portion that extends radially outward from the fitting portion. A sealing member is integrally adhered to the metal core. The sealing member has a side lip formed so that it extends radially outward from the metal core and inclines toward the inner side surface of the wheel mounting flange to slidably contact the flange, via a predetermined interference.
