摘要： An electrostatic copying machine made up of an image-forming unit including a rotary drum having an exposure zone and a transfer zone, an optical system for projecting the image of the document to be copied onto the exposure zone, a copying paper-feeding system including a paper-feeding cassette that can be freely drawn to the front surface of the body of the copying machine, and a copying paper conveying passage for conveying a copying paper fed from the copying paper-feeding means through the transfer zone. A fixing device and a pair of paper-discharging rollers are disposed on the downstream side of the transfer zone. The paper-feeding cassette, image-forming unit, fixing device and the pair of paper-discharging rollers are successively arranged from one side toward the other side in the body of the copying machine within the maximum exposure scanning length of the optical system, and the copying paper conveying passage is arranged substantially linearly.

A pair of side walls are disposed opposite to each other, spaced at a distance. Inner wheels of bearings have an inner wheel and an outer wheel. The inner wheels are secured to the outer peripheral surfaces of the photosensitive material drum at both ends thereof, and outer wheels of the bearings are secured to the corresponding side walls, so that the photosensitive material drum is rotatably supported by the side walls.

摘要： A transferring apparatus transfers a toner image formed on the surface of a photoreceptor drum onto a sheet. The photoreceptor drum surface and a transfer roller are arranged in such manner that a gap larger than the thickness of the sheet is left between the photoreceptor drum and transfer roller, and a lower guide member for guiding the sheet in such direction that the sheet abuts the drum surface at a predetermined angle is arranged between a resist roller pair and the drum. The sheet which abuts the drum surface by way of the upper surface of the guide member is in close contact with the drum surface while being bent and deformed along the drum surface. A conveying roller is provided, opposite the upper surface of the lower guide member, with a predetermined gap between, at a position close to but out of contact with the drum surface. The conveying roller may also be arranged to contact the transfer roller.

摘要： In an image forming apparatus using a transfer unit of a roller transfer method, the contact between the transfer unit and a photoreceptor drum can easily be canceled. The transfer unit is brought into contact with the photoreceptor drum by supplying an upward pushing force to a supporting member of the transfer unit, and a lever engaging with the supporting member to push down the supporting member is provided to connect with a front cover of the apparatus body. The transfer roller, the pre-transfer roller for feeding a sheet to the photoreceptor drum and driving force transmitting gears provided therebetween are supported by the same member to fix their relative positions so that the driving force is constantly transmitted from the transfer roller to the pre-transfer roller.

摘要： An image scanner serving as an image reading device reads an image of an original by an image sensor. A first read mode in which an image of a stationary on a transparent platen is read by moving the image sensor and a second read mode in which an image of an original read by the image sensor when stationary. An original section is separated from the automatic original conveying section, and can be opened or closed by a small operating force. In the second read mode, an original set on an original tray mounted on an upper portion of the original pressing section is reversed in the automatic original conveying section and then, is discharged to a discharge stand on an upper surface of the original pressing section. The original tray is not projected toward the side of the image scanner.

摘要： A supporting and driving mechanism including a rotatable body and a supporting unit for assuring stable support and rotation of the rotatable body for a long time. The mechanism includes an axis member at either end of the rotatable body, a driven gear at one end of the rotatable body, two rollers and a driving gear of the supporting unit. The two rollers are placed parallel to each other and the distance between the closed surfaces of the rollers is smaller than the diameter of the axis member of the rotatable body. The driving gear engages the driven gear and transmits a driving force to the driven gear of the rotatable body. The driving force applied from the driving gear to the driven gear directs between the centers of the two rollers when the driving force is translated so that the origin of the force is brought to the center of the axis member of the rotatable body. Thus the axis member is pressed toward the two rollers while the rotatable body is driven by the supporting unit, whereby the position of the axis member is fixed and the stable rotation of the rotatable body is assured for a long time.
