摘要： A light transmission system is provided for operating an optically responsive circuit. The system includes a light guide film (LGF) to transmit light emitted from its edge, and a scattering node for directing the light to the circuit. The circuit is disposed on a proximate face of the LGF. The scattering node is disposed on a distal face of the LGF opposite the circuit. The circuit can be an integrated circuit, a light detection sensor or a photovoltaic cell.

摘要： A radio frequency identifier (RFID) tag is provided for receiving and reflecting electromagnetic energy at select frequency bands of visible and infrared wavelengths. The RFID tag includes an electrically conductive backplane; a dielectric substrate disposed on the backplane; a light guide film (LGF) disposed on the substrate, and metamaterial elements. The LGF has an exposed surface segregated into domains. The metamaterial devices are disposed on a domain. Each device is tuned to respond to a corresponding frequency among the select frequency bands.

摘要： An optically tunable metamaterial unit cell is provided for photonic switching. The cell is optically tunable and includes a dielectric substrate with upper and lower surfaces. The cell further includes arrays of metamaterial elements and a layer of photo-capacitive material. The arrays are disposed the upper surface of the dielectric substrate. The metamaterial is capable of reflecting electromagnetic radiation. The layer of photo-capacitive material overlaps the arrays of metamaterial elements. The photo-capacitive material is optically tunable.

摘要： A transparent, light resistant container is provided for storage of medicinal agents, such as tablets, capsules, and the like. In broad terms, the container includes a container body having self-sustaining wall structure of predetermined thickness formed from a synthetic resin composition. A quantity of a coloring agent dispersed in the resin composition. The quantity of the coloring agent is correlated with the thickness of the wall structure to permit transmission through the wall structure of no more than 10% of light having a wavelength of between about 400 nm to 450 nm while permitting transmission through the wall structure of adequate visible light to allow external visual inspection of printed characters on solid medicinal tablets and capsules stored in the container. In addition, an amount of a UV absorber is dispersed in the resin composition. The amount of UV absorber is also correlated with the thickness of the wall structure and sufficient to permit transmission through the wall structure of the predetermined thickness of no more than 10% of light having a wavelength between about 290 nm to 400 nm.
