    • A heat pump with a high coefficient of performance and a dehumidifying apparatus consumes a small amount of energy per amount of moisture removal. The heat pump includes a pressurizer for raising a pressure of a refrigerant; a condenser for condensing the refrigerant to heat a high-temperature heat source fluid; an evaporator for evaporating the refrigerant to cool a low-temperature heat source fluid; and heat exchanger disposed in a refrigerant path connecting the condenser and the evaporator for evaporating and condensing the refrigerant under an intermediate pressure between the condensing pressure of the condenser and the evaporating pressure of the evaporator 210. The low-temperature heat source fluid is successively cooled by the heat exchanging means, cooled by the evaporator, and heated by the heat exchanger in such order. The low-temperature heat source fluid can be precooled by the heat exchanger prior to cooling in the evaporator, and the amount of heat removed in the precooling process can be recovered from the low-temperature heat source fluid which has been cooled by the evaporator.

The processing air and the regenerating air flow alternately through the refrigerant heat exchangers of the first and second heat exchanger assemblies of the adsorption heat pumps, and a heating medium for driving the adsorption heat pumps is guided to and heated by the desiccant heat exchangers directly in communication with the refrigerant heat exchangers through which the regenerating air flows.

    • A centrifugal compressor has a speed increasing gear located between an impeller and a prime mover and driven by the prime mover to increase the impeller speed. The speed increasing gear includes an impeller shaft provided with a pinion and having the impeller attached to the foremost end portion thereof, a casing body having a divided face perpendicular to the shaft, and a bearing unit arranged at the rear end portion of the impeller shaft. The bearing unit has a thrust collar attached to the rear end of the impeller shaft, an inner thrust bearing formed adjacent to the inner side of the thrust collar, an outer thrust bearing formed adjacent to the outer side of the thrust collar, a radial bearing formed integral to the inner thrust bearing, a housing body combined with the radial bearing, enclosing the thrust collar, a housing cover combined with the housing body to hold the outer thrust bearing from outside, and a spacer sandwiched between the outer thrust bearing and the housing cover to adjust the clearance between the inner and outer thrust bearings, wherein said bearing unit is freely detachably attached to the casing body from a direction opposite to the prime mover.

    • A motor cooling apparatus for use with the refrigerator which includes an evaporator, a condenser, a compressor and a main motor adapted to actuate the compressor and connected to the condenser at the internal space thereof. The motor cooling apparatus includes a refrigerant liquid guide passage for guiding refrigerant liquid condensed in the condenser to the internal space of the main motor by means of a refrigerant pump; a first opening formed in the condenser and connected to the internal space of the main motor; and a second opening formed at the bottom of the condenser and connected to the evaporator. The condenser has a reservoir at the bottom thereof to stock the refrigerant liquid. The reservoir is located between the first and second openings in the longitudinal direction of the condenser and connected to the refrigerant liquid guide passage on the suction side of the refrigerant pump. The reservoir may be formed at the same position as where the second opening is formed. The reservoir is provided in this case with a throttle device at the bottom thereof to control the amount of the refrigerant liquid flowing from the condenser to the evaporator. A dam is further formed in the reservoir, enclosing the throttle device, to prevent the refrigerant liquid which has flowed into the reservoir from flowing directly to the throttle device.
