摘要： A parenteral administration set, particularly for intravenous infusion of fluids, includes a drip chamber and a length of flexible intravenous tubing connected therewith. A flow controlling valve is in the length of tubing and is operable between open and closed positions from exteriorly of the tubing to obtain a desired drip rate corresponding directly with the frequency of valve operation. A fixed flow restrictor is in the length of tubing to impart a predetermined back pressure to flow through the set, whereby the rate of drop formation in the drip chamber is controlled to a value to insure that only one drop will form and fall for each valve opening.

At least one projection is defined on, or extending from, a surface of the luer lock connector. A shroud is moveably positioned with respect to the luer lock connector. The shroud comprises at least one projection that is rotatably positionable with the projection of the luer lock connector. In one rotational direction of the shroud, the projection of the shroud rotates the projection of the luer lock connector in the rotational direction. In an opposite rotational direction of the shroud, the projection of the shroud does not rotate the projection of the luer lock connector in the opposite rotational direction.

摘要： A formulation preparation device is provided herein which contains a valve assembly, transfer spikes, syringe port and tube, these components being interconnected so as to provide for controlled fluid flow between the spikes and port, through the assembly, in specific directions only. The device has an enclosed, sterilizable, gripable housing and can be used to mix combine fluids in reproducible and predetermined proportions. Combination is accomplished aseptically, avoiding contact between the device's operator and the fluids and the substances combined. Biologically active compounds can be combined with one or more fluids, including such aqueous liposome suspensions, using the device. A formulation preparation kit containing, in addition to the device, the fluids and compounds to be formulated is thus also provided herein; methods of using the device to prepare such formulations are further provided herein.

摘要： The present invention provides a manifold for receiving fluid tubes in a bulk compounder. In its simplest form, the manifold includes a plurality of inlets, each inlet defining an opening to a respective fluid passageway, and each passageway contains a check-valve. Included in this manifold is an outlet in fluid communication with the fluid passageways and an inlet port which is coaxial with the outlet. The coaxial inlet port contains a check-valve. Included as a part of the present invention is a cannula adapted for use with the manifold of the present invention, tube sets for use with the manifold of the present invention, and a method of minimizing error in filling a bag using a manifold in accordance with the present invention.
