    • The present invention is an improved modular cooling device for cooling gas chromatography analyte sample injectors. The invention is embodied in a series of tubes connected in fluid communication from a coolant supply valve to the injector heating block. A flexible supply tube capable of carrying coolant while maintaining structural integrity at temperatures up to about 150.degree. C., and having a low thermal conductivity is connected in fluid connection with a coolant supply at one end, and a transition tube at the other. A transition tube, in fluid communication with the supply tube at one end and with the cooling tube at the other, is selected to maintain structural integrity at temperatures up to 450.degree. C. and to have a low thermal conductivity. The cooling tube is in fluid communication with the transition tube at a receiving end and with an exhaust at an exhaust end, and has an outer surface that is physically engageable with a surface of the heating block. The cooling tube is capable of maintaining structural integrity at temperatures up to 450.degree. and has a high thermal conductivity (at least about 200 watts/meter .degree. C.) to facilitate heat transfer. The cooling tube further has a flattened surface for creating a greater surface area for physical engagement with the heating block to provide greater cooling effect.

    • A device for opening a sealed flexible packet and for dispensing its contents has a flexible body that allows a user to dispense a product from a sealed packet with the use of only one hand. The device has a body with a flexible a flexible outer wall defining a slot into which a user can place a sealed packet. The inner surface of the body has blades that pierce the packet when the body is squeezed around the packet. Further squeezing of the body causes the contents of the packet to be dispensed through openings in the body. The body is spring biased to a position to facilitate loading a packet, unloading the packet after dispensing the product, and replacing it with a sealed packet, all with the use of only one hand. Tabs at the end of the body help keep it upright during loading and unloading.

    • The inventive blanket is an inflatable underbody convective thermal blanket whereon the head and the upper body of a patient may lie. The blanket is in the shape of a cross with a truncated lower vertical portion and an upper head portion onto which the head of the patient lies. The blanket has two horizontal arm portions that extend from the main body portion of the blanket and onto which the arms of the patient may be positioned. At each of the arm portions there is a flap that may be used to cover the arm of the patient. An inlet port is provided in an upper corner at the head portion of the blanket. The heated air input to the blanket is directed by a plurality of sealed strips to flow in respective desired directions around the arm portions and the lower truncated body portion of the blanket. Sets of apertures are provided along an inner sealed periphery that defines a T-shaped uninflated area onto which the torso of the patient lies. There are more apertures at the inner corners of the inflatable structure defined by the uninflated area to enable a greater outflow of heated air at the lower truncated body portion of the blanket. All inner and outer corners of the blanket are rounded to facilitate the air flow.
