    • The present invention relates to a tightening system for footwear, especially in athletic shoe, and is directed to improve the fittability, supportability and stability of the shoe. The athletic shoe of the present invention includes a supporting portion (Fs) for supporting the lateral side of a foot of a shoe wearer, a first fastening element of a loop shape that surrounds the periphery of the calcaneus (f2) of the foot, and a second fastening element of a loop shape that is provided integrally with the supporting portion (Fs). The supporting portion(Fs) extends from the position in the vicinity of the head of the metatarsus on the lateral side of the foot over the rear portion of the calcaneus of the foot to the medial side. The first fastening element, which is integrated with the terminus (Fs′) of the supporting portion (Fs), extends upwardly to the position corresponding to the navicular (f3) on the medial side, and passes over the instep above the navicular (f3), and returns to the lateral side of the foot and to the calcaneus lateral side of the supporting portion (Fs). The second fastening element extends from the medial side to the lateral side on the rear side of the base position of the proximal phalanx (f4) of the foot. The first and second fastening elements include medial side, lateral fastening elements (F1′), (F2′) that are provided on the lateral side, and joining parts that join the medial fastening elements to the corresponding lateral fastening elements.

    • An athletic shoe midsole assembly includes a midsole formed of soft elastic material and a corrugated sheet disposed in the heel portion of the midsole. The corrugated sheet has a pocket structure at edge areas of the sheet, for example the medial side edge, formed by two layers spaced apart from each other with a respective void pocket formed therebetween. Since the compressive hardness of the midsole is higher on the medial side including the pocket structure, transverse deformation of the shoe on landing can be prevented and over-pronation can be restrained on this medial side and the loss of athletic power can be decreased. On the other hand, flexibility of the midsole is maintained on the lateral side without a pocket structure and thus cushioning properties can be secured on this lateral side.

    • A cup-like insole includes a body of elastic material having a bottom surface which has a shape to fit to a bottom member of a shoe. The insole has a flat portion and a concave side wall portion formed integrally therewith extending from the area corresponding to the inner arch portion of the foot to the area corresponding to the outer lateral side of the foot through the area corresponding to the heel portion of the foot. An impact cushioning material has bouncing putty and is disposed on the upper surface of the side wall. A sheet made of either woven fabrics, unwoven fabrics, or leather covering over the impact cushioning material secures the material to the body. The cup-like insole, according to the invention, provides improved fitness of the heel portion of a shoe to stabilize the heel of the wearer.
