    • An image forming apparatus includes: a rotating belt which rotates around a roller; a drive section which rotates the belt; a detection section which detects a position of the belt in a width direction; a moving section which moves the belt in the width direction; a control section which corrects a deviation of the belt by controlling the moving section. The control section conducts a preparatory operation in which the control section changes an amount of control to be given to the moving section under the condition where the belt is rotated to obtain a correction data showing a relation between the amount of control and a change of a position of the belt in the width direction detected by the detection section, stores the correction data in a memory section, and then corrects the deviation based on the correction data stored in the memory section.

    • A thin film capacitor includes a pair of electrodes and a dielectric layer having piezoelectricity sandwiched therebetween. The phase characteristic of an impedance resulting from application of a voltage to the pair of electrodes peaks periodically according to a frequency of a signal to be inputted or outputted. The frequency of the signal is adjusted to fall in between the values representing the adjacent peaks. Since there are periodic peak values that depend upon the frequency of the inputted or outputted signal, in fabricating a band-pass filter, a higher attenuation can be attained by ensuring that the peak value stands at a low-frequency level. Thus, a higher attenuation can be attained at low frequencies without sacrificing the band-pass characteristic, whereby making it possible to produce a band-pass filter that is excellent in band-pass characteristic.

    • An image forming machine, such as a copier or a printer, for forming a toner image on a recording sheet includes a developer for forming a toner image on a photoreceptor, the photoreceptor holding the toner image on its surface; a transfer device for transferring the toner image onto the recording sheet; a light emitting device for irradiating a light beam onto the surface of the photoreceptor; a light receive for detecting a reflection of the light beam from the surface of the photoreceptor, and for generating a variable detection signal according to an amount of the reflection of the light beam; a first comparing circuit for comparing a value of the variable detection signal with a first predetermined threshold value, and for generating a first comparison signal; a first judgment circuit for determining whether or not a sheet wrapping jam of the recording sheet on the photoreceptor occurs according to the first comparison signal; a first memory for storing the value of the variable detection signal when the first judgment circuit determines that the sheet wrapping jam occurs; a first calculation circuit for calculating a second threshold value according to the value of the variable detection signal stored in the first memory; a second comparing circuit for comparing the value of the variable detection signal with the second threshold value, and for generating a second comparison signal; and a second judgment circuit for determining whether or not a sheet wrapping jam of the recording sheet on the photoreceptor is solved according to the second comparison signal.

    • The invention relates to reducing the leakage current and insulation breakdown in a dielectric film stepped portion caused by a surface roughness of a dielectric film, and to enhancing insulation of a variable capacitor. A lower electrode layer (2), a dielectric layer (3) and an upper electrode layer (4) are successively stacked on a support substrate (1). A variable capacitor is provided with a first region (a-b) covered with the upper electrode layer (4) and a second region (b-c) other than the first region. The dielectric layer (3) has a stepped portion where a thickness in the second region is smaller than that of the first region, and a surface roughness of the second region is smaller than a surface roughness of the first region.
