    • A compressor has a movable scroll supported on a bushing connected to a rotary shaft via an eccentric pin. The movable scroll and the bushing are disposed coaxial to the eccentric pin to rotate together with the eccentric pin. The movable scroll moves along a predetermined circular path around an axis of the rotary shaft to closely contact a fixed scroll, opposed to the movable scroll at a given portion to define a displaceable fluid pocket and compresses refrigerant gas introduced into the fluid pocket. The compressor comprises a first balance weight eccentrically supported on the eccentric pin for an integral rotation therewith. The first balance weight is arranged to generate first centrifugal force counteracting second centrifugal force generated in the movable scroll and the bushing based on the rotation of the movable scroll and the bushing. The first balance weight has a weight in a predetermined ratio to weights of the movable scroll and the bushing to cancel substantially 80 to 97 percents of the second centrifugal force with the first centrifugal force. Thus, the movable scroll is kept to move along the predetermined circular path.

    • A compressor has a fixed scroll (2) and a movable scroll (9). Both scrolls (2), (9) have end plates (11), (13) and spiral elements (12), (14) integrated with their end plates (11), (13).     • The scroll type compressor includes a stationary and orbiting scroll members, of which the spiral elements are interfit at an offset angle to form line contacts defining at least one fluid pocket, and an anti-spin mechanism for causing the orbiting member to orbit within the stationary member. A drive shaft is rotatably supported in a housing, and has an outer end a cylindrical inner end and, depending upon the embodiment, either a crank pin or a sliding guide portion projecting axially inward from its inner end. A drive bush couples the drive shaft to the orbiting scroll member, and has either a circular aperture for receiving the crank pin or an engaging slotted recess for receiving the sliding guide portion, as the case may be, whereby the drive bush is either pivotable or slidable with respect to the drive shaft. A counterweight is mounted on either the crank pin or the sliding guide portion between the drive bush and the drive shaft, and is coupled to the drive bush for conjoint movement therewith. The counterweight has a cylindrical recess for receiving the cylindrical inner end of the drive shaft, with a clearance maintained between the radially inner perimeter of the recess and the radially outer perimeter of the inner end of the drive shaft, so as to allow the drive bush and counterweight either to pivot relative to the crank pin or to slide relative to the sliding guide portion, depending upon the embodiment.

    • A rotary compressor for compressing a refrigerant gas has a by-pass port and a control valve means. The by-pass port communicates at one end with a suction chamber containing the gas to be compressed, and at the other end with a compression chamber wherein compression of the refrigerant gas is in progress. The control valve means includes a valve spool accommodated in a chamber formed in a front side plate of the compressor and movable between its full-load position, where a gas suction port is opened to the compression chamber while the by-pass port is closed, and its partial-load position where the former is at least partially closed while the latter is opened. The valve spool is normally biased to its partial-load position. During operation of the compressor, the valve spool is placed under the influence of a first pressure of the gas acting to urge the same towards its said full-load position, and to a second pressure of the gas to urge the same towards its said partial-load position. The spool is shifted automatically to its partial-load position when the difference between these first and second pressures is decreased with a drop of cooling load. The compressor of the invention further comprises a flow control means for regulating the flow of the gas into its compression chambers in the event of a rapid increase of compressor speed.
