    • An color image forming apparatus is disclosed which forms an electrostatic latent image on a photosensitive drum with the use of a charger and laser beam for light exposure, develops the electrostatic latent image into a visible image by a developing unit with the use of a liquid developer with a coloring material of very fine particles mixed in an insulating solvent and transfers the visible image to a recording sheet with the use of a transfer roller with a heater reincorporated therein. In this color image forming apparatus, a partition wall is provided for covering the transfer roller as a solvent vapor producing source to prevent the diffusion of a solvent vapor, and a cooling panel constituting at least part of a surface of the partition wall opposite to the transfer roller is cooled to a temperature lower than an ambient temperature within the partition wall, whereby it is possible to suppress the diffusion of the solvent in the liquid developer to a minimal possible level and efficiently collect the solvent for recovery and to achieve a stable developing characteristic.

    • A rotating anode X-ray tube is provided which includes an anode disk having a central axis of rotation and a circumferential peripheral edge lying in a plane perpendicular to that axis of rotation. A ring-shaped target is mounted to the disk adjacent the peripheral edge and the disk includes a mechanism formed integrally solid with the disk and remote from the target for mounting the disk to a support shaft of a rotor within a vacuum housing to permit rotation of the disk about the axis of rotation of the disk. The disk is formed integrally solid along the aforementioned plane, including that portion of the disk coincident with the axis of rotation and the disk has a thickness which increases progressively in a radially inward direction from the peripheral edge, including that portion of the disk between the target and the mechanism for coupling, to counteract a radially inward increase in the disk upon high speed rotation of the disk. A cathode is provided for bombarding the target with thermions to generate X-rays which escape the vacuum housing through an appropriately placed X-ray penetrable window.

    • An electro-optical device for a liquid-crystal apparatus includes TFTs provided above a substrate, pixel electrodes that are provided above the TFTs and that are connected to corresponding relay electrodes via contact holes, a protection insulating film that is provided on the pixel electrodes from the gaps between the pixel electrodes to the edge portions thereof so as to cover end surfaces of the edge portions of the pixel electrodes, and an alignment layer that is provided on a surface including the protection insulating film and that is rubbed. Material residues of the alignment layer are reduced or prevented from being generated or trapped in the vicinities of the edges of the pixel electrodes and in the vicinities of the contact holes. Consequently, brightness irregularities or display irregularities are reduced.
