    • The present invention disclosed herein provides a hot-melt ink composition that can provide a good fixing strength and a high quality of print independently of the kinds of recording media. The hot-melt ink composition according to the present invention is a hot-melt ink composition that is solid at room temperature and jetted as droplets at a temperature above room temperature and comprises a a coloring material; and a vehicle comprising at least a first component and a second component, wherein said first component, as such, does not dissolve said coloring material, said second component has a higher melting point than said first component; dissolves said coloring material; is compatible with said first component at the melting point of said second component or above; and can dissolve said coloring material and said first component to form a homogeneous phase, and the weight ratio of said first component to said second component is in the range of from 93/7 to 1 and the amount of said coloring material is 2% by weight or more based on the ink composition, provided that, when the weight ratio of said first component to said second component is less than 9, the weight ratio of said coloring material to said second component is 0.3 or more.

    • An ink jet printer casing which reduces the volume and thickness of a used ink tank by fully utilizing the inherent ink absorbing capability of the ink absorbing substance. A used ink containing room, defined by side walls, is formed on the bottom surface of the casing. The used ink containing room is divided into a plural number of segmental regions by partitioning plates. Individual segments of ink absorbing substance made of a porous material are placed in the segmental regions, respectively. If the casing is tilted, the water heads of the segments of ink absorbing substance are low as a whole when viewed in the vertical direction since the segments of ink absorbing substance are isolated from one another by the partitioning plates. The ink absorbing substance may also be formed as a single member, and the ink led to a central part of the used ink containing room.

    • The recording medium guide member is placed along the main scanning direction scanned by the carriage mounted with a recording head, and ink-receiver holes for receiving ink discharged from the recording head are formed on the guide member in positions beyond the edges of the recording medium being conveyed. Ink absorbing materials are placed in said ink-receiver holes, and a discharged ink accumulating means that cumulatively counts the amount of ink discharged into the ink absorbing materials is provided. The amount of ink discharged into the ink-receiver holes can be controlled by the discharged ink accumulation means so that contamination of the left and right edges or the top and bottom as well as left and right edges of the recording medium, caused by excessive ink collecting in the ink-receiver holes, can be avoided.
