摘要： A patient cooling system comprises an inflatable patient mattress having an airflow system and integral manifold incorporated therein and a patient enclosure or tent coupled to the inflatable patient mattress and supported by a framework of inflatable tubes drawing air off of the same air supply used to supply the mattress and to thermally control the area in the tent. The framework of inflatable tubes is divided into left and right sections, which are further subdivided into lower body and upper body sections. An inflatable connector with a stem and protuberance is provided to secure the framework in a closed position. The patient-supporting mattress comprises a plurality of inflatable compartments extending transversely across the width of the mattress that can be alternately pressurized for pressure relief therapy. Air is recirculated from the area in the tent and the integral manifold through the airflow system and into a thermal control unit. The tent is adapted to prevent collapse on top of the patient when the inflatable tubes are deflated by having a predetermined outward bias.

摘要： An abdominal wound dressing and methods of use are described that enable the application of negative pressure to the wound site in a healing manner while also limiting the formation of adhesions that would prevent the removal of the dressing. The dressing comprises a layer of porous foam material enclosed by sheets of elastomeric material punctuated by a number of appropriately placed holes. Multiple layers of porous foam may also be used. A suction tube connector is provided on an upper surface of a layer of foam for connection to a negative pressure source. At least one layer of foam is enclosed in elastomeric material and is placed in direct contact with the tissue within the open wound. Fluids are drawn by negative pressure through the holes positioned in the elastomeric envelope and through the foam.

摘要： A manually-activated reduced pressure treatment system includes a substantially rigid housing, and an end cap slidingly received by the housing. An inner chamber is disposed between the end cap and housing, and a volume of the inner chamber is variable in amount depending on the position of the end cap within the housing. The end cap is slidingly movable between an uncompressed position at which the volume of the inner chamber is at a maximum value and a compressed position at which the volume of the inner chamber is at a minimum value. A position indicating member is associated with the end cap and housing to indicate the position of the end cap relative to the housing at predetermined positions between the uncompressed position and the compressed position.

摘要： A wound closure apparatus to promote tissue healing at a wound is provided and includes a porous pad positioned at the wound and a suction pump in fluid communication with the porous pad to provide a negative pressure to the porous pad. The suction pump is disposed within a housing. A canister is fluidly connected between the porous pad and the suction pump to collect fluids drawn from the wound by the suction pump, and the canister is removably received by a recess in the housing. A wound cover is positioned over the porous pad to secure the porous pad at the wound, and a switch provides a signal indicating that the canister properly resides within the recess when the switch is pressed.
