    • A manufacturing method of an image displaying apparatus, having an airtight container with a vacuum interior, includes the steps of exhausting an inside of a container via a through-hole provided in the container, arranging a plate member on an outer surface of the container, the inside of which was exhausted, so as to close the through-hole, and sealing the container by arranging a cover member to cover the plate member and by bonding the arranged cover member and the outer surface of the container to each other via a sealant positioned between the cover member and the outer surface of the container. The sealing includes hardening the sealant after deforming the sealant by pressing the plate member, and the plate member has a terminal portion including a conductive material. Additional steps include providing an anode electrode in the airtight container, and performing the sealing in a state that the terminal portion is in contact with the anode electrode.

    • A method of manufacturing a hermetically sealed container including a pair of substrates disposed in opposition to each other, a frame member disposed between the pair of substrates, and a bonding member bonding the substrate to the frame member, includes a bonding step of heating the bonding member for bonding the substrate to the frame member. The bonding step includes a measuring process for measuring a height of the bonding member in a direction perpendicular to the substrate, and a heating and pressing process for partially pressing the substrate to the bonding member while partially heating the bonding member. The heating and pressing process is conducted by scanning, along the bonding member, an area of the bonding member partially heated and an area of the substrate partially pressed. During the heating and pressing process, the pressure exerted on the substrate is controlled based on the measured height of the bonding member measured such that a constant pressure is exerted between the substrate and the bonding member.

    • A method for producing an airtight container includes preparing an assembly having a first substrate and a frame member, the first substrate having an electron-emitting element formed on a first surface thereof, the frame member mounted on the first surface outside an area where the electron-emitting element is formed; forming a temporary assembly having the assembly and a second substrate by bringing the second substrate into contact with the frame member via a joining member such that an inner space is formed; melting the joining member by irradiating the joining member with a laser beam transmitted through the second substrate; and solidifying the melted joining member. The laser beam is applied such that an incident direction at an irradiation position on the joining member does not include components toward the interior of the frame member while the laser beam moves relative to the temporary assembly.
