    • A board-mounted optical connector is provided which enables high-density wiring of optical fibers on a board. The board-mounted optical connector is a board-mounted optical connector having a housing comprising: a first housing component, and a second housing component. The first housing component has a housing space accessible through an opening formed in at least a portion of a side wall and houses portions of optical fiber members that are partially laid along the top surface of a board and are bent at nearly right angle to the board together with an optical component connected to the optical fiber members in the housing space through the opening. The second housing component is attached to the first housing component and can close the opening of the housing space with the portions of the optical fiber members and the optical component connected to the optical fiber members housed in the first housing component.

    • A lamp unit 18 is provided with a reflecting face 25b for an overhead sign and a light receiving face 28 for the overhead sign. The reflecting face 25b for an overhead sign reflects light from a light source 23a and is provided on an upper side of the light source 23a and rearward from a rear side focal point F of a projector lens 11.     • An automotive discharge bulb having a light emitting tube includes a ceramic tube with paired electrodes oppositely placed, and contains a light emitting material and starting rare gas. A transversal section of the ceramic tube is longitudinally elongated. Because the capacity of an enclosed space of the ceramic tube is small, after discharging begins, the enclosed space temperature increases. Consequently, the ceramic tube has a good luminous flux rising characteristic. Because of the small surface area of the ceramic tube, the load imposed on the wall surface increases. Consequently, the ceramic tube has good luminous efficiency. In the ceramic tube having a longitudinally elongated transversal section, an arc generated into an upwardly convex shape and the tube wall do not make contact. Thermal shock resistance required of the ceramic tube is alleviated, durability is enhanced, and the ceramic tube is made of a ceramic material hitherto unusable.
