摘要： Metal materials made of iron (Fe) or the like are butted together at a joint, and a probe of a rotary tool is inserted into the joint. The rotary tool is rotated while being moved in the lengthwise direction of the joint, whereby the metallographic structure of the joint is stirred, and the metal materials are joined. While the rotary tool is being rotated and moved, liquid CO2 is supplied to the joint and the rotary tool. Electromagnetic valves are suitably opened and closed so that nozzles discharge the liquid CO2 from the rear in the movement direction of the rotary tool. Supplying the liquid CO2 to the joint and the rotary tool reduces wear of the rotary tool, and also increases the joining strength of the joint.

摘要： In a first step, friction stir welding is performed, while supplying a filler into a joining portion, in order to prevent the coarsening of crystal grains of metal materials in a subsequent fusion processing. Then, a fusion processing such as MIG welding is performed. The filler to be added to the joining portion includes a substance that does not chemically react with the metal materials and has a melting point higher than a melting point of the metal materials and a substance in which a misfit with the metal materials is within ±15%. As a result, the coarsening of crystal grains by the fusion processing is inhibited and the joint strength can be increased.

摘要： A method of connecting metal materials to each other, wherein a pin fitted to the tip of a metal bar-like rotating tool (10) is inserted between the end pan of a metal member (I) and the end part of a metal member (1′), and moved, while rotating, along the longitudinal direction of these end parts. By this frictional heat is generated between the metal members (1) and (1′) and the rotating tool (10), and the metal member (1) is connected to the metal member (1′). The rotating tool (10) is formed of a wide shoulder (12) and a thin pin (11) formed at the tip thereof and inserted between the end parts of the metal members. The pin (11) is a right circular cylindrical pin. The side face of the pin (11) is formed in a smooth curved surface, and a thread groove is not formed therein.

摘要： A temporary checking device is provided that works in conjunction with elements of a vehicle hinge that remain in the vehicle's final configuration. The hinge includes a hinge pin rotatably connecting a door hinge bracket to a pillar hinge bracket. The checking device includes a spring portion that is disposed between the door hinge bracket and the pillar hinge bracket. The spring portion is compressed during movement of the door hinge bracket relative to the pillar hinge bracket from either of two rest positions. The spring portion urges the vehicle door affixed thereto back into one of the rest positions, thus allowing manufacturing operations such as painting, etc., to be performed on the vehicle.
