摘要： An airbag and airbag system for a driver's seat. The airbag and airbag system is capable of maintaining high inner pressure for a long time even with the use of a low-capacity inflator. The airbag is also capable of having a first and second chamber divided by an inner panel where the second chamber is deployed and inflated earlier. The internal pressure of the airbag and the speed of deployment of the airbag may be adjusted for the first and second chamber individually.

摘要： An airbag inflated by an inflator is formed of a front panel disposed at a position adjacent to an occupant, and a rear panel disposed at a position opposite to the occupant. Rims of the front panel and the rear panel are joined together. A joint member joins a center area of the front panel to the rear panel, so that a periphery of the airbag projects to the occupant more than the center area for a time of 10 to 60 msec after the airbag starts to inflate. With the airbag in a fully inflated condition, the periphery of the front panel projects toward the occupant by 10 to 100 mm more than the center.

摘要： An airbag apparatus includes an airbag that is defined by a plurality of chambers or by a plurality of small airbags. The airbag is configured in such a manner that not only the sequence of inflation of the respective chambers or airbags, but also the internal pressure upon inflation, is controlled independently. The airbag apparatus includes an inflator for inflating the airbag, a flow control member for allowing gas from the inflator to flow independently into the chambers or airbags, and a retainer. The inflator includes two gas generating units, which are configured to perform gas generating action independently. The flow control member is configured to allow gas from the first gas generating unit to flow into a first chamber or a first small airbag of the airbag, and gas from the second gas generating unit to flow into a second chamber or a second small airbag of the airbag.
