    • Tristimulus values of each of pixels in an image, which is represented by an image signal, are transformed into chromaticity values, and mean values of the chromaticity values having been calculated with respect to the pixels in the image are calculated. The mean values of the chromaticity values are transformed into physiological primary colors. The thus obtained physiological primary colors are regarded as the white of a photographing illuminant, under which a photographing operation was carried out. The chromaticity values are transformed such that the thus obtained physiological primary colors may coincide with the physiological primary colors of a reference photographing illuminant. The chromaticity values, which have been obtained from the transformation, are then transformed into RGB color signals. The thus obtained RGB color signals are subjected to image processing and then used for reproducing a visible image.

    • Disclosed herein is a method of and an apparatus for electrically processing images. Image processing conditions are set up based on image data obtained by scanning image information recorded on an original to be read. Then, a desired image is displayed on a display unit based on the image data, and finishing information is set to the image displayed thereon. Thereafter, hue space data corresponding to the finishing information set to the image are determined to extract desired image data from a region set up by the hue space data. In addition, a hue image region relative to at least one main subject is selected from hue image regions preset by the image data thus extracted, and image processing conditions are set so as to regard image data in the selected hue image region as the optimum value for the hue in the hue space data. The hue space data are set in a hue space distributed in such a manner as to be directed from an image low-density region to an image high-density region.

    • An image output device judges whether an image processing mode of a first image data set and an image processing mode of a second image data set obtained immediately before the first image data set are the same. If the judgment is YES, the image output device obtains a frequency of photography during obtainment of the first image data set and a time interval between photography of the first image data set and the second image data set.     • Natural images which are similar to each other contained in a page represented by page description data are corrected so that they have natural appearance to the eye. To achieve this object, an image recognizing unit recognizes images in a page represented by page description data, and a natural image determining unit determines whether or not each recognized image is a natural image. An image analyzing unit calculates a setup condition for image correction for each natural image. A second correction condition calculating unit calculates, for the similar natural images being similar to each other, a correction condition for making image qualities of the similar natural images substantially uniform. An image correcting unit applies image correction based on the setup condition and the correction condition to the similar natural images.
