    • A low-profile socket contact is provided that is mountable on a print substrate and has a high contact pressure. The socket contact includes a base portion provided on a print substrate, and a contact connecting portion connecting to the tab-shaped contact provided on a central portion of the base portion. The base portion has an opening in which the tab-shaped contact passes through, and a plurality of lead portions solderable to the print substrate. The contact connecting portion has a pair of first bending fragments, a pair of first inverted arms, a pair of second bending fragments, and a pair of second inverted arms. A contact point in contact with the tab-shaped contact is provided on each front ends of the pair of first inverted arms, and a guiding face in which the tab-shaped contact slides is provided on the pair of second inverted arms.

    • A connector (1) for printed circuit boards (25) has an insulated housing (2), contacts (3) each with a lead (13) protruding from the contact to be soldered to a circuit pattern (26), and reinforcement metals (4) fixed in both sides of the housing and capable of soldering to a fixation pattern (27) on a board. These housing (2), contacts (3) and metals (4) are useful as they are, whether the connector takes a top type or a side type position. Each lead (13) and metal (4) respectively have first solderable portion (14) and zone (22) for top type position, and second solderable portion (15) and zone (23) for the side type position. The first portions and zones extend along the housing's bottom (5), the second portions and zones extending along the housing's front wall (6) or rear wall (7), such that the housing, contacts and metals need no change in shape between the top type and side type position so that the connector is made efficiently with reduced facility investment and with reduced sorts of its parts, lowering manufacture cost and facilitating stock control of parts.

    • A socket contact includes a base bottom portion and a contact connection portion. The base bottom portion is mounted on a printed board. The contact connection portion is provided on both sides of the base bottom portion in a lateral direction, and connected with a counterpart contact. The base bottom portion includes an opening and a pair of first feet. The pair of first feet extends in longitudinal directions substantially perpendicular to the lateral direction. The first feet are soldered to the printed board. The contact connection portion includes an elastic arm, a first bent arm, a rigid arm, a second bent arm, and a second foot. The first bent arm includes a contact point having contact with a first surface of the counterpart contact, and the second bent arm includes a guide face along which a second surface of the counterpart contact slides.
