    • A drive carrier comprises a base adapted to receive a drive, two opposing sides extending from the base with each side having first and second stand-off receiving apertures that each receives a stand-off from a surface on which the drive carrier is positioned. The carrier comprises a handle coupled to each side via a hinge. The handle has a stand-off receiving notch associated with each side and each stand-off receiving notch receives one of the stand-offs when the drive carrier is locked in place on the surface. Each notch applies insertion and removal forces against the received stand-off during insertion and removal of the carrier. The hinge defines a plane through the hinges and parallel to the base. The handle pivots downward toward the plane and base to lock the drive carrier to the surface. When the drive carrier is in a locked position, the handle rests above the plane.

In this embodiment, the first and second arm sections include attachment mechanisms configured to couple the arm sections to a respective housing and device. One of the attachment mechanisms of this embodiment may include a mounting base and a mounting bracket that is reversibly coupleable to the mounting base to enable ambidextrous mounting of one of the arm sections to the device.

    • An embodiment of a mounting kit has first and second rails connectable to a frame and first and second spacers respectively connectable to the first and second rails. The first and second spacers are configured to engage an object therebetween when the first and second rails are connected to the frame. The first and second rails each comprise a portion configured to extend under the object when the object is between the first and second spacers. A distance from the first spacer to an end of the first rail and a distance from the second spacer to an end of the second rail are based on a length of the object.

    • The housing of a portable computer docking station has an exterior wall with an opening formed therein through which a PC card may be inwardly passed for operative insertion into a PC card ejection mechanism disposed within the housing in a facing, inwardly spaced relationship with the exterior wall opening. A molded plastic access door member has a pair of outwardly projecting pin portions which are releasably snap fitted into socket structures formed on interior housing mounting walls to thereby support the door for pivotal movement between closed and open positions in which the door respectively blocks and unblocks the exterior wall opening. Complementarily sloped surfaces on the pins and the sockets are engageable in a manner resiliently deforming the door as it approaches either of its closed and open positions and then permitting the door to return to its original shape. As it returns to its original shape the door automatically drives itself through a final distance to its closed or open position as the case may be. The engageable sloped surfaces on the pins and socket structures, together with interengageable detent structures on the pins and sockets, function to releasably hold the door in its closed or open position. In this manner the door itself is used as an opening and closing spring, thereby eliminating the need for a separate spring member.
