    • An apparatus and method are disclosed for transferring part data, such as sheet metal part data, between computer-based application or CAD environments and for editing such part data. The application environments may include a 2-D CAD program environment and an object oriented bend model program environment. An interface is provided through which a 2-D CAD system may access data from the object oriented bend model system and by which data may be transferred between the systems to permit editing and updating of the part model within and from both applications. The interface may be implemented through a library or set of application program interface (API) functions and a message-based protocol (such as dynamic data exchange (DDE)) to facilitate the exchange of sheet metal part data. Various editing capabilities or tools may also be provided to enable, for example, the attachment of faces of the part or the shifting of one face relative to another face of the part.

    • A dimensioning system is provided for a computer generated model of a sheet metal part including a plurality of entities. The dimensioning system comprises a model display, an indicator, a selector, a dimension defining system, and a dimension display. The model display displays a representation of the model on a display screen. The indicator indicates to a user candidate entities of the model, in response to user events, that may be selected. The selector selects two entities of the model, based on an indicated candidate entity. The dimension defining system defines each dimension associated with the selected entities of the model. The dimension display displays dimension information on the display screen based on the defined dimension. A repositioning system is also provided for a computer generated model of a sheet metal part represented on a display screen. The sheet metal part has associated dimensions displayed along with the sheet metal part on the display screen. The repositioning system comprises a repositioner and a repositioned dimension display. The repositioner repositions the dimension to a desired position relative to the model. The repositioned dimension display displays the dimension at the desired position relative to the model.

Finally, the method, system, and computer program display the modified sheet metal part model on the computer display screen so that a user views modifications of the sheet metal part model in real time.

    • A method for improving search quality by quantitative analysis of enterprise web access traffic is disclosed. This invention relates to the field of data processing systems and more particularly to the field of knowledge management in corporate or enterprise. Performing search on heterogeneous data in an enterprise is complex and challenging. Present day technologies deploy costly and time consuming methods involving manual operation of data integration, pre-processing, mining and interpretation tools. Further, these methods are inefficient in retrieving relevant data. The proposed method discloses a method for exhaustive monitoring and analysis of intranet traffic to identify and retrieve relevant data in enterprise search. Resource relevance is revealed by traffic analyzer based on empirical, content-independent metric. Further, analysis of intranet traffic provides effective, timely and personalized information resource to user for selective information discovery, cross-linking of disjoint data repositories, one-click navigation to popular applications, index trimming and the like.
