The composition can include a functionalized carbon pigment dispersed in an ink vehicle. The carbon pigment includes functional groups chemically attached thereto. Suitable functional groups includes an aromatic ring structure having multiple carboxyl groups (or salts thereof) attached to the aromatic ring structure, wherein at least two of the multiple carboxyl groups are positioned on adjacent carbon atoms of the aromatic ring structure.

摘要： Systems and methods for providing smudge resistant and durable ink-jet images are provided. Specifically, a system for printing durable ink-jet ink images can comprise a first printhead containing a fixer composition including a charged fixer component, wherein the first printhead is configured for ink-jet printing the fixer composition on a substrate. The system can further comprise a second printhead containing an ink-jet ink, wherein the second printhead is configured for ink-jet printing the ink-jet ink composition over the fixer composition. The ink-jet ink can also include a colorant carrying an opposite charge with respect to the charged fixer component. A third printhead containing a polymer overcoat composition can also be present, and can be configured for ink-jet printing the polymer overcoat composition over ink-jet ink composition. The polymer of the polymer overcoat composition can also carry an opposite charge with respect to the charged fixer component.

摘要： The present invention is drawn to ink compositions and methods for ink-jet recording. The ink compositions can include a milled pigment, a surfactant, a non-aqueous co-solvent system, and at least 2 wt % resin solubilized in the ink composition. The non-aqueous solvent system comprises a main co-solvent system, where each co-solvent of this system has a surface tension less than 32 dynes/cm at 25° C. The co-solvent system also includes gamma butyrolactone and a second co-solvent system. The second co-solvent system includes one or more co-solvent(s), each having a surface tension of greater than 32 dynes/cm at 25° C. The second co-solvent system or other components can optionally act to increase the overall surface tension of the ink composition as a whole.
