    • A searching method for an information record medium has: an initial value data preparing process of (i) performing a search for a plurality of sampling positions arranged in a radial direction on the information record medium, (ii) actuating a tilt servo to correct an error due to a tilt of an optical axis of a light beam emitted onto the information record medium from a normal line of a surface of the information record medium at each of the sampling positions, (iii) extracting a tilt correction amount after the tilt servo is stabilized for each of the sampling positions and (iv) storing the extracted tilt correction amount in relation to respective one of the sampling positions corresponding to the extracted tilt correction amount into a memory as initial value data of the tilt correction amount in advance; an initial value determining process for determining an initial value of the tilt correction amount at a search target position of the search when the search is to be performed, on the basis of a content of the initial value data stored in the memory; and a tilt servo process for performing the tilt servo at the search target position by use of the initial value determined by the initial value determining process.

    • A tilt servo apparatus in an optical disc reproducing apparatus operates promptly and certainly when reading recording information of an optical disc recorded at high density. The tilt servo apparatus is used in an optical disc reproducing apparatus having an optical pickup including a liquid crystal panel for an aberration correction on which a transparent electrode is formed and divided into segments of predetermined shapes, and irradiating a laser beam via the liquid crystal panel for the aberration correction and the objective lens, and receiving an obtained reflection light. The tilt servo apparatus has: tilt detecting for detecting a signal corresponding to a tilting angle in a radial direction between the information recording surface of the optical disc and an optical axis of the objective lens; and a driving circuit for variably driving voltages which are applied to the divided portions of the liquid crystal panel, respectively. The driving circuit drives so that predetermined voltages are applied to the respective divided segments of the liquid crystal panel according to a detection output of the tilt detecting and a phase difference between respective laser beams passing through the divided portions is adjusted, thereby correcting the aberration of the objective lens inclined at the tilting angle relative to the information recording surface of the optical disc.

    • A semiconductor laser driving device is mounted on an information recording/reproducing device or the like, and is suitably used for recording and reproducing information. The semiconductor laser driving device is provided with a semiconductor laser for emitting laser beams, and a temperature detecting means for detecting a temperature of the semiconductor laser, and changes an output of the laser beams based on the detected temperature. Thus, the semiconductor laser driving means can suitably improve response characteristics of the semiconductor laser, irrespective of the temperature of the semiconductor laser. Therefore, the semiconductor laser driving device can ensure recording performance to an optical disc without being affected by the temperature of the semiconductor laser.

    • An information recording apparatus is provided, which can control over the power of light beams emitted from a light source and various types of servo control with higher accuracy. A laser beam is emitted from a semiconductor laser to write information onto an optical disc. A detection signal indicative of the power of the laser beam output from a light-receiving device is sampled and held with a sample and hold circuit via an I-V converter at a timing delayed by the time corresponding to the delay time of the I-V converter. A tracking error generation circuit and a focus error generation circuit generate a tracking error signal and a focus error signal, respectively, on the basis of a detection signal having information about tracking error and focus error and output from a light-receiving device. Sample and hold circuits sample and hold the tracking error signal and the focus error signal at a timing delayed by the time corresponding to the delay time of each of the generation circuits, respectively. Power control, tracking servo, and focus servo are performed using each of the signals held by the sample and hold circuits, respectively.
