    • A mobile station for use in a wireless network comprising a first base station that transmits user data streams in a forward channel using a multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system. The mobile station implements a virtual MIMO antenna system to receive MIMO data signals transmitted by the first base station. The mobile station comprises first and second transceivers. The first transceiver receives the MIMO data signals transmitted by the first base station and stores a first plurality of MIMO data signal samples in a memory. The second transceiver receives directly from a second mobile station a second plurality of MIMO data signal samples received by the second mobile station from the first base station. The second plurality of MIMO data signal samples are stored in memory. A MIMO algorithm generates from the first and second plurality of samples the user data streams transmitted by the base station.

    • A system and method for channel estimation and echo cancellation in wireless system repeaters. A repeater with improved echo cancellation comprises an input radio control element having a receiving antenna and an output radio control element having a transmitting antenna; a power amplifier connected between the input radio control element and the output radio control element; and a signal processing unit connected between the input radio control element and the output radio control element. The signal processing unit is configured to estimate the communication channel from the transmitting antenna to the receiving antenna to produce a channel estimation. The signal processing unit is further configured to perform echo cancellation based on the channel estimation.

    • A system and method for synchronous spectrum sharing for use in a wireless communication system based on orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) or orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) signaling is disclosed. The system includes a frame detector configured to detect a frame of a broadcast waveform and extract idle spectrum information for the frame to the secondary user node. The system allows transmitting data from the secondary user node in unused symbol slots identified in the idle spectrum information thereby making efficient use of unused or idle spectrum. Accordingly, secondary users of the wireless communication system can dynamically form ad-hoc mesh network communications in fixed or mobile scenarios.

    • An RF transmitter filter for use in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The filter includes a waveform detector to detect a power level of a transmitted data stream on a symbol-by-symbol basis. The filter also includes a processor to select a combination of filter parameter values according to the power level. The RF transmitter filter selects and adjusts filter parameters (i.e., number of taps or filter length, word length, coefficient quantization, sampling rate, tap delay, sampling bits, etc.) based on signal waveform characteristics. The adjustments limit the transmitted bandwidth and allow transmitted signals to meet an emission mask, while still enabling a receiver to recover the correct sample values of transmitted symbols. The filter further includes a reconfigurable digital filter to filter the transmitted data stream according to the combination of filter parameters.
