摘要： The invention relates to substituted piperidine, piperazine, morpholine and thiomorpholine compounds useful in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease and more specifically to compounds that are capable of inhibiting beta-secretase, an enzyme that cleaves amyloid precursor protein to produce amyloid beta peptide (A-beta), a major component of the amyloid plaques found in the brains of Alzheimer's sufferers. One embodiment of the invention relates to compounds having the structure: where Z is CR or N, and R1, R2 and R3 are as described in the specification.

摘要： An adjustable fastener is provided. The adjustable fastener includes an elongated main body and a mounting bracket for receiving the main body therein. The elongated main body includes a plurality of teeth along the length of the main body. The mounting bracket includes a latching mechanism disposed on a front face thereof, the latching mechanism having a first end including a release lever and a second end including a plurality of ribs extending into an interior volume of the mounting bracket. The ribs on the second end of the latching mechanism engage with the teeth on the main body to slidably secure the main body within the mounting bracket, thereby providing a vertically adjustable fastener.

摘要： The present invention relates to conjugates of biocompatible polymers and hGH, particularly PEG-hGH, where the activated biocompatible polymer is conjugated to a carboxyl group of hGH at a molar ratio of 2:1 or less, preferably 1:1, methods of preparation, and related pharmaceutical compositions. The PEG-hGH conjugates have up to 20% of the activity of the native hGH while the in vivo half life is increased 10 fold. The PEG-hGH conjugates may be used therapeutically to treat growth retardation or growth failure, especially short stature in children, and conditions related to aging.

摘要： A resistance selectable exercise device for performing upper body, leg, and arm exercises includes a pair of posts, each of which has an upper end and a lower end. A rod, which is engaged to and extends between the upper ends, is configured to be grasped in one or both hands of a user. Each of a pair of wheels is engaged to the lower end of a respective post so that the wheel is perpendicular to a plane defined by the pair of posts. The wheels allow locomotion of the posts across a surface. A bracket is engaged to and extends between the posts and is positioned between the upper ends and the lower ends of the posts. Each of a set of weights is selectively engageable to the bracket. The weights provide resistance to the user in moving the rod relative to the user and the surface.
