    • An animal euthanization assembly provides a method for humanely anesthetizing and euthanizing animals using small but effective single doses of agents dispersed from a single one use container. The assembly includes a box having a bottom wall and a perimeter wall coupled to and extending upwardly from the bottom wall defining an interior space of the box. A lid selectively couples to the box wherein the interior space is enclosed. A valve is coupled to the box. A canister has a dispensing nozzle selectively engageable to the valve wherein contents of the canister are dispensed into the interior space of the box when the dispensing nozzle is engaged to the valve. An anesthetizing agent and a euthanizing agent are dispensed from the canister when the dispensing nozzle is engaged to the valve.

    • A self-suturing anchor device includes rotatable ring adapted to automatically deploy sutures to secure a catheter. The rotatable ring is utilized in connection with a ratchet mechanism which allows movement of the rotatable ring in a first direction while preventing movement of the rotatable ring in the opposite direction. The rotatable ring is also utilized in connection with a bearing member to facilitate smooth and efficient rotation of the rotatable ring. An extension saddle is utilized to provide a desired amount of displacement between suture securement points to minimize pivotal movement of the catheter. The rotatable ring is wider than its height to minimize kinking of the catheter tube and to relieve pressure when pressed between the patient and a support surface. In another embodiment, a plurality of scallops or other gripping members are utilized to facilitate easy gripping and rotation of the rotatable ring.

    • The remote servicing of a secure computer system employs an intermediate network entity accessible to both a remote service provider and to an agent running on the secure computer system to be serviced. A service provider's computer runs a manager software module, while the system being serviced, or an agent on its behalf, runs an agent software module. An intermediary software module runs on the intermediate network entity. The mutually accessible intermediate network entity may be located outside firewalls protecting the system to be serviced or inside such firewalls though with the firewalls configured to allow selected access. Access to the intermediate network entity is limited by secure access protocols. After authentication, the manager submits to the intermediary one or more directives to be executed by the agent. The intermediary then sends the directives to the agent over a secure connection to the agent. The agent then executes the directive(s) upon receipt and sends the response to the intermediary via the secure connection. The manager is then capable of accessing the results via the intermediary.

    • A method for using a positioning apparatus having a cylindrical shaft including a retaining shaft, an expansion shaft, and a frustoconical transition shaft extending therebetween. The expansion shaft has a recess sized to receive a flange radially extending outward on an elongated member. The shaft is configured to be received within a housing having a passageway extending therethrough. The passageway is defined by an interior surface which includes a cylindrical first surface positioned at the top of the housing. The first surface has an inner diameter equal to the outer diameter of the split ring. The interior surface also includes a frustoconical constriction surface positioned at the bottom end of the housing. The housing raises and lowers relative to the shaft for positioning the split ring onto the elongated body under the force of a weight.
