    • A rotating beacon employs an array of LEDs mounted on a rotor assembly in a pattern for unidirectional emission wherein the LEDs are excited through noncontact inductive coupling between a load coupling on the rotor assembly and a source coupling on the stator or mount element. In a particular embodiment, a primary sender flat coil of an air gap transformer is disposed concentrically forming a disc and mounted juxtaposed to a secondary receiver flat coil so that power can be conveyed across the air gap while the rotor is in motion. The transferred power excites substantially all of the LED array in a fixed pattern on the rotating mount. In a second embodiment, the air gap transformer has a primary sender coil is mounted coaxially with a secondary receiver coil (which is typically but not necessarily inside the primary coil), so the secondary, with the array can freely rotate and draw power from the source.

    • A tether that is formed from plastic resin is used for securing a captive article, e.g., a scoop to a container such as a bottle or the like. The tether comprises a ring-shaped body portion defining a collar that is constructed and dimensioned to fit around the neck of the container. An integral arcuate leash encircles the collar and is concentric exteriorly of the collar so as to at least partially surround the collar. An integral radially extending connecting ligament also formed from the same plastic resin is located between the collar and a proximal end of the leash. A fastener is provided on the free end of the leash for securing the tether to the captive article.

    • The present invention is a process to react limestone with sulfate and/or sulfuric acid solutions and/or other solutions containing sulfates, in order to neutralize the solutions and precipitate the sulfates, in such a way that the limestone is used with an efficiency that makes the use of limestone economic. This reaction is most often used in the environmental cleanup of mine and industrial wastes, however it may be used in other industrial applications. In previously existing technology, the reaction is typically done in agitated tanks containing a slurry of the solution mixed with lime or limestone, or in percolating beds of crushed limestone. Typically the reaction of limestone in such systems is very slow and inefficient, so that normally the use of limestone is precluded—it is instead necessary to utilize lime (calcium oxide or hydroxide). In the present invention, the limestone is reacted with the solution continuously, in a high intensity reactor, which is designed to provide a high-energy input and continuous renewal of the limestone surface. The technology and methodology are a new and novel approach that earlier researchers and engineering applications did not use and the new technology is not obvious or describes in prior art or practice.

    • The present invention relates to a system for use in motorized vehicles to provide a vehicle back-up alarm system, intended for mounting on a vehicle, that also incorporates an apparatus for detecting and alarming low battery conditions. Preferably incorporated into a main housing are the electronic components that perform power regulation, system control, voltage sensing, timing, alarm tone generation, sound emitting and, optionally, light emitting. The housing serves to securely fix and retain these components and to protect them from moisture and dirt. The circuitry is connected to the vehicle upon which it is installed by preferably three connection terminals situated on the housing. Distinctive tones and/or lamp sequences alert the operator and those by-standers within proximity to the vehicle to different alarm conditions.
