    • A disk pack, comprising at least one hard disk, is rotatably mounted to a housing. The disk pack defines an axis of rotation and a radial direction relative to the axis. At least one actuator mounted to the housing is coupled with a suspension and is movable relative to the disk pack. A slider, comprising a slider body and a head configured to read data from and write data to at least one hard disk, is coupled with the suspension. A first suspension electrical interconnect is configured to electrically couple a first signal conducting pathway with the slider and with a first non-terminated signal pathway. A second suspension electrical interconnect is configured to electrically couple a second signal conducting pathway with the slider and with a second non-terminated signal pathway. The length of the second non-terminated signal pathway is selected to achieve a desired impedance level.

    • A recording channel front-end circuit for driving a write element over a transmission line interconnect provides the improved performance during writing of information. In one embodiment, the recording channel front-end circuit includes a voltage-type write driver coupled to the transmission line interconnect and operable to output a write driver signal to the transmission line interconnect and a receiver termination circuit coupling the transmission line interconnect to the write element. The receiver termination circuit may include an impedance matching network operable match a terminal impedance of the write element to be substantially equal to a characteristic impedance of the transmission line interconnect. In another embodiment, the recording channel front-end circuit includes a voltage-type write driver coupled to the transmission line interconnect and operable to output a write driver signal to the transmission line interconnect and a source termination circuit coupling the voltage-type write driver to the transmission line interconnect. The source termination circuit may include an impedance matching circuit operable match a terminal impedance of the voltage-type write driver to be substantially equal to a characteristic impedance of the transmission line interconnect.

    • A magnetic-head write-driver circuit includes a write-driver circuit and a by-pass driver circuit coupled in parallel to a signal path between the input and the output of the magnetic-head write-driver circuit. The write-driver circuit receives an input signal having transitions and outputs a first write signal related to the input signal. The by-pass driver circuit outputs an assist signal that is coupled to the first write signal to form an output write signal. The assist signal is related to transitions of the first write signal and assists in shortening reversal time of the transitions of a write signal by producing “overshoots” in the write signal at the time of the transitions. Additionally, the assist signal assists in charging and discharging a parasitic capacitance associated with an output of the magnetic-head write-driver circuit. The assist signal can add a current to, and/or enforce a voltage on, the first write signal to form the output write signal.
