Effectiveness of the shielding of the device can be readily determined for any particular predetermined frequency or range of frequencies by noting the current sensor readings and output voltage. That is, the lower the output voltage/sensor voltage readings in the test frequency range, the higher the shielding effectiveness of the device.

Annular metal rims are affixed to the substrate edges respectively contacting the metal foil or film. A conductive strip of appropriate dimensions is received onto the outer edges of the metal rims and extends about the complete circumference of the rims. A resistive material is used to secure the conductive strip to the edges of the rims so that the entire resistance of the strip and resistance material exceeds that of the sensing metal foil to prevent shorting out of the foil.

摘要： A grounding plate having a flanged edge wall continuously around its periphery is press fit into the open end of a connector part shell. The plate provides a continuous intimate contacting relationship between the plate flange and the inner wall of the connector shell. A plurality of openings are formed in the plate aligned with the connector contacts contained within the connector part. A length of shielding braid, which can be identical to that carried by a cable wire has one open end soldered onto a cable wire shield. A metal ferrule grounding plug has an open end which is soldered or otherwise electrically and mechanially secured to the other end of length of shield braid. The outer end of the grounding plug has a radially outwardly directed flange and a slotted side wall, such that the plug on being inserted into a grounding plate opening is compressed, and then when the flange has passed through the plate it snaps outwardly to lock the plug in place. An alternative form includes a removable grounding plate held within the connector part end by an end cap or connector shell extender.

The contacts are received within insulative inserts which, in turn, are mounted within metal shell members. A portion of the cable shields outwardly of the insulative inserts are located on the outer end portion of a connector part metal shell surrounding the inserts. A metal ring is placed over the individual cable shields and formed in place mechanically securing and electrically connecting the cable shields to the metal cylinder and thus to the connector part.

摘要： The outer insulation on a cable to be terminated is removed leaving a section of exposed cable shield. An annular metal contact with a deformable circumferential flange is received on the cable and affixed (soldered) to the bare shield completely encircling the shield with a mechanical and electrical connection. A receiving tube slid onto the cable has a contoured end for receipt under the contact flange. A clamping ring is soldered, mechanically or electromagnetically formed over the flange and contoured end of the receiving tube.A cylindrical cap encloses the bare shield section and contact with thin-wall portions being deformed to tightly engage the receiving tube. The cable and outer end of the receiving tube are passed through an opening in a termination plate (e.g., ship deck) and the receiving tube is welded to the plate.

摘要： For cable termination, a metal plate is fit into the open cable-receiving end of either a connector plug or receptacle. One or more openings in the plate include hollow metal tubes conductively secured to the plate. A set of cable wires within a grounded shield have a shield end portion peeled back preliminary to the wires being passed through one of the tubes and connected to an appropriate connector contact. The peeled-back shield end portion extends over the tube. A ring of solder about the shield affixes it to the tube. Optionally, an aluminum ring may be clamped over the shield sleeve by an electric current operated cryo ring. In another shield connection technique, an oversized ferrule is crimped onto the shield. An elongated tapered cylindrical adapter has one end of a diameter enabling fitting receipt onto the connector open end and a recessed shoulder for engaging edge portions of the connection plate to secure it in place.
