摘要： Marking apparatus and method is described wherein an array of marker pins are carried by translational assembly which, in turn, is driven from stepper motors which perform in conjunction with high helix lead angle lead screws. Solenoid actuated pneumatic valves are employed to actuate the marker pins within an array thereof and the entire assemblage of motors, valves, translational mechanism, and control features are retained within a compact housing structure. The control system and associated translational mechanism is capable of driving the marker head assembly in matrix, raster, and continuous modes of operation. Speed of marking is enhanced through the employment of a masking procedure wherein the translational mechanism drives the marker head assembly only to locations where active character forming pixels are present.

The window may be a transparent shield to allow a user to view the laser process and to protect the user from the radiation of the laser light. The continuous material may be a wire. The wire may be a string of a conductive material. Examples of the conductive material may include platinum, silver, iron, copper, aluminum, gold, brass, bronze, conductive plastic, and/or semiconductor. The alteration may be damage to the wire to interrupt the current of the electricity through the wire.

摘要： Marking of a generally planar object at a first surface thereof with one or more indentation-defined pixels. For generating the marking, an anvil member is provided as having an impact surface. A marking head is positioned at a fixed relationship with respect to the anvil member. The head includes a confronting portion opposing the impact surface, and a marker pin having a distal impacting tip issuing from the confronting portion which is reciprocatably actuable along a marking axis from a retracted position to an extended position. With the object disposed intermediate the marking head and the anvil member, and with at least a portion of the second surface of the object being supported on the impact surface of the anvil member, the object may be positioned at a predefined pixel location within a marking locus. Thereupon, the impacting tip of the marker pin may actuated from its retracted position to its extended position impacting the second surface of the object in an indentation contact defining one of the pixel marks.
