    • An oven temperature control system for an oven cell having a top heating element with two separate heating conductors in a top portion of the oven cell, a bottom heating element with two separate heating conductors in a bottom portion of the oven cell, and a convection heating element and fan. A control separately controls the on and off operations of each of the heating elements and the convection fan based on a selected mode of cooking operation and a selected temperature for cooking. A plurality of temperature sensors are positioned at different locations in the oven cell and operatively connected to the control. The control determines the selected temperature for cooking to be maintained in the oven cell by averaging selected temperatures sensed by the plurality of temperature sensors in predetermined proportions based on the selected mode of cooking operation.

    • A deployable lens is provided for an antenna. The lens comprises an array of metallic lens elements formed on a plurality of planar sections of a dielectric substrate, each lens element comprising a first end-fire element directed towards a feed side of the lens, a second end-fire element directed towards a non-feed side of the lens and a section of transmission line for coupling signals between the first and second end-fire elements. The section of transmission line, preferably in the form of a slot-line transmission line, is integrated with the end-fire elements and is of a length determined according to the position of the lens element within the aperture of the lens as deployed. An antenna is also provided comprising a deployable lens according to the present invention.

    • Devices and methods for detecting radiation are described. A detector for detecting radiation comprises a housing containing an ionisable gas, an array of anode wires extending substantially in a first plane, and arranged to be held at a first potential for attracting electrons, and at least one cathode wire spaced in a predetermined relationship from the anode wires, arranged to be held at a second, lower potential. The detector further comprises at least one additional electrode positioned adjacent a periphery of the array of anode wires, and arranged to be held at a third potential, greater than the second potential. A window for a radiation detector is described and comprising a housing containing an ionisable gas is also described. The window comprises a layer formed of an electrically conductive material forming an electrode, a layer formed of a plastic, arranged to support the layer formed of electrically conductive material, and a layer of gas impermeable material.
