摘要： An image forming apparatus has an image forming device for forming an image on a recording material in response to an image on a document. The apparatus also has a glossiness detection device for detecting from the document the level of glossiness of the document image. The image forming device is controlled based on an output from the glossiness detection device. With this construction, the level of glossiness in response to the document image can be reproduced on the recording material, thus improving the quality of reproduced images.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes an unfixed-image forming unit for forming an unfixed image having a plurality of colors on a recording material, and a fixing unit for fixing the unfixed image formed by the unfixed-image forming unit by heating the recording material bearing the image. The fixing unit can fix the unfixed image on the recording material with a first degree of fixing or with a second degree of fixing which is greater than the first degree of fixing depending on whether or not a light-transmitting-property recognition unit recognizes the recording material to have a light-transmitting property, and whether or not a black-monocolor recognition unit recognizes the unfixed image formed by the unfixed-image forming unit as a black monochromatic image. When the image forming apparatus recognizes that the recording material has a light-transmitting property and that the unfixed image is a black monochromatic image, the fixing unit can fix the unfixed image with the first degree of fixing or with the second degree of fixing based on information relating to an image formed by the fixing unit.

摘要： An image forming apparatus for forming an image on a recording member includes an unfixed image forming device for forming an unfixed image on the recording member, a fixing section which has a nip, and which holds and conveys the recording member carrying the unfixed image through the nip to fix the unfixed image on the recording member, and a conveyor for conveying the recording member to the fixing section. The conveyor can convey the recording member at a first speed, or at a second speed which is slower than the first speed. The conveyor conveys the recording member at the first speed before a leading end of the recording member is held by the nip, and at the second speed after the leading end is held by the nip. With such a construction, the recording member can be forcibly inserted into the nip, and can be prevented from slipping at the entrance of the nip.

摘要： An image formation apparatus is disclosed, capable of forming an image on both surfaces of a recording medium. The image formation apparatus is provided with the latent image forming unit for forming an unfixed image on the photosensitive drum, the transfer drum for transferring the unfixed image onto the recording medium, and an oil application device for applying a release agent onto the fixing roller. The release agent applied upon fixing the first surface is different in quantity from that applied upon fixing the second surface and the releasing agent applied to the fixing rotor during single side fixing is different in quantity than when both surfaces are to be fixed. The releasing agent quantity also differs depending on whether the apparatus is in cassette feed mode or manual feed mode and is not applied when the recording medium is in contact with the fixing roller.
