    • A device and method for using a rotating key on a mobile terminal is provided. The mobile terminal includes a plurality of dome switches which can detect a contact signal when pressed and a plurality of contact surfaces which can detect the position of the rotating key in each direction of rotation. The device and method comprises a folder opening/closing sensor for detecting whether a folder of the mobile terminal is opened or closed; first and second display sections for displaying menus or data according to the operation of the rotating key; and a control section for controlling the mobile terminal to display a menu or data selected by the operation of the rotating key on the first display section or the second display section according to an output from the folder opening/closing sensor.

    • A method and a terminal for transmitting a message are provided, where whether language information for a receiver has been established is checked when receiver information is input, the established language is displayed on a message input window when it is determined as a result of the check that the language information has been established, a message is created using the established language according to key information input from a key input unit and transmitted. Although a receiver uses a different language from that used by the transmitter, the mobile terminal can create and transmit a message based on the language used by the receiver by means of language information stored in the mobile terminal, so that the receiver may easily confirm a received message.

    • Disclosed is a camera control method for a portable terminal, by which a lens unit of a camera of the portable terminal can be automatically drawn into or out of the portable terminal when a call is received in a camera mode of the portable terminal. The method comprises the steps of: determining if a call is received in the camera mode in which a lens unit of the portable terminal has been drawn out of the portable terminal; controlling the lens unit to be automatically drawn into the portable terminal while reporting call reception when the call is received; shifting the portable terminal into a communication mode and performing communication when a communication key is input; shifting the portable terminal into an initial camera mode when the initial camera mode is selected after the communication is performed and shifting the portable terminal into a previous camera mode when the previous camera mode is selected after the communication is performed; and interrupting call reception and controlling the lens unit to be automatically drawn out of the portable terminal while maintaining the camera mode when a cancel key is selected.
