    • An image processing apparatus and a method are proposed to control the disparity and rate of disparity change in a 3D image. The method includes the following steps: inputting a maximum negative disparity threshold value and/or a maximum rate threshold value of disparity change by a viewer; receiving data of a 3D image; decoding the data into left eye image data and right eye image data; determining a maximum negative disparity and a rate of disparity change of the decoded 3D image data; determining and image movement value based on the determined maximum negative disparity and rate of disparity change and at least one threshold value; adjusting the left eye image and the right eye image using the image movement value; and displaying the adjusted left eye image and right eye image to a viewer on a 3D display device. The apparatus comprises image receiver, image decoder maximum disparity analyzer disparity control value determiner, user interface, disparity adjuster, and stereo display.

    • Layered depth image (LDI) and other more complicated 3D formats contain color, depth, and/or alpha channel information for visible pixels (base layer) and occluded pixels (occluded layers) of 3D video data. The present principles form 2D+depth/2D+delta representation using the information for the visible pixels, and embed the information for the occluded pixels into the 2D+depth/2D+delta content. When embedding, the occluded pixels that are more likely to be viewed from other view angles or used in multiple viewpoint video rendering are provided with stronger protection from transmission or compression errors. In one example, watermarking based on Least Significant Bit (LSB) and Spread Spectrum Watermarking (SSW) is used to illustrate the embedding process and the corresponding extraction process.

    • A method of forming a reconstituted wood block can include providing a recovered wood having a high aspect ratio along wood grains of the recovered wood. The recovered wood can be radially crushed or obtained as strips of recovered veneer. The recovered wood can be pretreated to increase resin absorption to form a degreased wood. The degreased wood can then be dried sufficient to reduce a moisture content to produce a dried wood. The dried wood can be soaked in a resin solution to form a resin impregnated wood. The resin impregnated wood can be dried to reduce the moisture content without substantially curing the resin to form a dried resin impregnated wood. The dried resin impregnated wood can then be molded having wood fibers oriented in a non-random predetermined pattern substantially common direction and compacted to form an uncured molded wood. The pattern can be oriented along a substantially common direction or portions may be oriented transverse to others to obtain a knotted appearance. The uncured molded wood can then be cured to form the reconstituted wood block.
