    • The invention relates to an oil-derived hydrocarbon converter comprising a catalytic cracking vessel (1) in the presence of catalyst particles in fluidized phase and a regenerator, for regenerating said catalyst particles by burning off the coke deposited on them, said catalyst circulating between said cracking vessel and said regenerator, said regenerator being a reactor (2) integrated into a combustion installation for steam generation comprising carbon dioxide capture. According to the invention, said regenerator is a reduction reactor (2) for an oxygen support, which is fed with solid fuel, comprising said particles provided with coke, and is equipped with a cyclone (C2) for separating the solids and with exchangers (E2), this reduction reactor for said oxygen support being associated with an oxidation reactor (3) for said oxygen support and equipped with a cyclone (C3) for separating the solids and with exchanges (E3), said oxygen support circulating between these two reactors, and in that said oxygen support consists of metal oxide particles having a mean diameter different from that of said catalyst particles.

    • A separator of solids for separating first and second solids, the diameter and density of the first solids being larger than the diameter and density of the second solids. A first substantially vertical internal baffle (2) forms a passage in the low portion of the separator and forms two compartments (1A, 1B) on the passage of the fluidized solids. The fluidization of each compartment is independently controlled by two fluidization gas inlets (3A, 3B) in order to obtain the desired velocity field for separating the first and second solids in the first compartment (1A) and discharging the second solids through a vent (8), as well as for transferring the first solids into the second compartment (1B). The first baffle (2) is provided on at least one of its substantially vertical faces with fluidization gas ejectors (E2) and the first compartment (1A) is equipped with an internal obstacle arrangement deflecting the path of the solids and at least partially provided with fluidization gas ejectors (E4A) directed towards said first baffle (2).

    • A method of treating solid residue resulting from combustion of a sulfur-containing fuel in the hearth of a boiler having a circulating fluidized bed, in which method limestone is inserted into the hearth so as to make it possible to absorb the resulting sulfur dioxide in the form of calcium sulfate CaSO.sub.4, the method further including the following steps:1) prior to being inserted into the hearth, the fuel is ground down to less than 100 microns;2) prior to being inserted into the hearth, the limestone is ground down to a grain-size centered in the range 100 microns to 150 microns, with a maximum of 1 mm;3) at the base of the hearth, the combustion residue is collected, which residue includes lime and calcium sulfate resulting from taking up the sulfur dioxide SO.sub.2 evolved by the combustion, and the residue is subjected to heat treatment in a reactor, in which both solid matter based on lime CaO, and also a gaseous mixture containing, in particular, sulfur dioxide SO.sub.2 are obtained;4) the sulfur dioxide is routed to a sulfuric acid manufacturing unit; and5) the solid matter is quenched with water, and is then ground, these two operations reactivating the specific surface area of the solid matter, and a portion of this solid matter is re-injected into the hearth of the boiler in the form of a suspension in water, the remaining fraction of the matter being routed to a cement plant.
