    • A display container for displaying and dispensing a coiled wire product is disclosed having a wire frame which may be hung from a peg board or like surface. The coiled wire may be displayed and dispensed in individual coils stacked one upon the other, or may be displayed in a single coil and dispensed by the customer cutting off the desired length. The container consists of a pair of generally rectangular wire side elements interconnected by a pair of wire bottom cross members and a wire upper cross member. The distance between the bottom cross members is less than the diameter of the wire coil to be displayed, to enable the coils to rest upon the bottom cross members. A pair of hooks are attached to the upper cross member to enable the container to be hung on a peg board or similar structure. A sign or other indicia may be attached between the side pieces across the front of the container to indicate the exact size, length, or type of the wire in the container.

    • A plate hanger has a single spring to connect two plate-gripping members. The plate-gripping members may be formed identically to one another. Each plate-gripping member is formed of wire, the wire having a coating which, first, allows the wire to be formed; second, increases the frictional gripping capability of each plate-gripping member; and third, prevents the plate-gripping members from scratching either a wall surface or the plate which is held. Each plate-gripping member is formed generally in the shape of a "W", the ends of the "W" terminating in hooked portions so as to grip an edge of a plate. The middle of the "W"-shaped plate-gripping member is formed as a wire loop for securing one spring end, as well as a threequarter loop which connects the two "V"-shaped portions of the "W"-shaped wire plate-gripping member. In use, a plate edge is received into curved-in end portions of one plate-gripping member, the other plate-gripping member is then placed along an opposite plate edge. The spring is attached to both plate-gripping members so that the spring resiliently urges the two plate-gripping members toward one another. The plate hanger may then be secured to a wall by passing the second, nearly complete, loop portion over a nail, projection, or other type of wall hanger.

    • A one-piece hanger for supporting objects on a wall is disclosed which initially penetrates, and upon full insertion, is substantially irreversibly locked in the wall so that rotation relative to, or removal from, the wall is prevented. The hanger comprises a spring wire element including a straight shank portion which connects a front hook portion with a rear locking portion. The latter has a parabola-like shape, terminates in a pointed and threaded penetrator, and overlies substantially all of the shank portion. A disc or flange is fixed on the forward, outer end of and in generally perpendicular relation with the shank portion and abuts generally flush with the wall when the hanger is mounted on the wall. In mounting the hanger on the wall, the pointed penetrator is first forced through the front face of the wall to form a hole through the wall. As the hanger advances through the hole, the penetrator arches unwardly and back towards the wall and pierces and embeds itself in the rear surface of the wall. The hanger is substantially irreleasably locked in the wall when advanced yet further into the hole so that the curvature of the locking portion is deformed by bowing out. Removal of the hanger from the wall is thus prevented until the locking portion is restored to its original curvature by application of an appropriate forwardly directed pulling force of very substantial magnitude.

    • A continuous, high speed method of galvanizing and annealing a continuously travelling low carbon ferrous wire to provide a highly corrosion resistant, more ductile wire having a bright silvery luster comprising, (a) passing a continuously travelling low carbon steel wire after it has been cleaned through a zinc electroplating bath to deposit a zinc coating on the wire, (b) passing the resulting coated wire through a bath of molten aluminum-zinc eutectic alloy maintained at a temperature of about 734.degree. F. to about 786.degree. F. and comprising a major portion of zinc and sufficient aluminum to provide an aluminum-zinc alloy having a melting point less than that of zinc, to provide a coated ferrous wire, (c) drawing down the coated continuously travelling ferrous wire to a lesser cross-sectional area, (d) process annealing the drawn continuously travelling ferrous wire at a temperature up to about 1400.degree. F. for a short period of time sufficient to relieve the stresses imparted to the wire by the drawing down step but not so long that inhibiting action of the aluminum content in the coating on the iron-zinc alloying action is completely overcome, and (e) thereafter quenching the annealed wire. Alternatively, especially for fine wires and/or where thin coatings are acceptable, step (a) the electroplating step can be eliminated and the wire, after it has been cleaned, can be passed directly through a molten bath such as that described above but maintained at a temperature to about 1040.degree. F. or more and then subjected to steps (c), (d), and (e); however, the alternative method is less preferred.

    • A two component removable adhesive hanger is disclosed which has a hook support component with a bifurcated end folded to form a pair of hook support legs and adhesively secured to a backing sheet component, the backing sheet component having adhesive means thereon to secure the hanger assembly to the wall, or similar surface. A hook member is supported by the hook support legs to enable the hanging of an article thereon. The backing sheet component extends downwardly beyond the hook support legs so as to provide an increased adhesive area and to prevent the hook from bearing directly against the surface to which the hanger is attached. The hanger is removable by manually separating the hook support component from the backing sheet component and subsequently dissolving the backing sheet by the application of water. Both the hook support component and the backing sheet component may be made from water dissolvable paper or the hook support component may be made from metal, plastic or like material.

    • A fastener for hanging an object such as a picture, or a plaque, on a vertical surface such as a wall of plaster or wallboard is formed by attaching a narrow flat strip of metal to a small piece of sheet metal so as to project outwardly at right angles to the small sheet, the ends of the strip being sharpened to provide prongs to be inserted respectively into the wood frame of the object to be hung and into the wall. The side of the small sheet facing the wall is covered with a sheet of partially delaminated paper, or similar material, which is coated on its exposed surface with a soluble adhesive which is moistened at the time of use to cause the fastener to adhere to the wall. The fastener can be withdrawn by completing the delamination of the paper and soaking the residue on the wall with liquid.
