    • A conveyor belt is composed of plurality of substantially identical interlinked modules each of which is of integral plastic molded construction. Each module includes a body of plate-like planar configuration and first and second link ends outwardly extending from respective opposite edges of the body, the link ends being mateable with corresponding link ends of adjacent modules. The upper surface of the body and contiguous surfaces of the link ends define a flat conveying surface such that a conveyor belt composed of assembled modules provides an effectively continuous flat top conveyor for carriage of products. Each module includes an array of sprocket teeth across the width of the module and midway between the link ends, which are arranged in operative pairs coacting with corresponding portions of a sprocket wheel for positive belt drive.

    • An integrally molded module for forming a conveyor belt which receives a driving force from an intermeshed sprocket is disclosed. Each of the modules is suitable for being pivotally assembled and disassembled with a multiplicty of similar modules by pivot rods to construct the conveyor belt. More specifically, the pivot rods can be removed in a non-destructive manner such that they are suitable for reuse. Each of the modules includes first and second pluralities of link ends, each of which define a pivot hole and are aligned to form first and second pivot axes. The link ends of each of the modules are joined by an integrally molded connecting structure which maintains and joins the relative position of the elongated links with respect to each other. One or more stop members are also integrally molded in close proximity to the outermost link ends of one of the pluralities and partially obstructs the insertion of a pivot rod into the aperture defined in the outermost link. Consequently, to insert a pivot rod into the aligned link ends of two intermeshed modules, either the stop member(s), the pivot rod or both, must bend out of the way. Once the first rod is fully in place, the stop member(s) will prevent pivot rod from coming out during normal belt operation. However, by applying additional force, the pivot rod can be reused in a non-destructive manner to allow for the repair or replacement of modules, and the reuse of the pivot rod.

    • Readily attachable and detachable apparatus for coupling the drive shaft of a modular plastic screw conveyor with a power source is substantially concealed and protected by the modular plastic screw conveyor. Plastic screw conveyor modules define a non-circular axial aperture suitable for sliding over a matching or cooperating non-circular full length drive shaft. The drive shaft itself also includes an axial non-circular cross-section recess at one end for receiving a cooperating journal plug. The journal plug is retained in the drive shaft by a resilient axial force such as provided by a spring under tension, and such that rotation of the journal plug causes rotation of the drive shaft which in turn causes rotation of the plastic screw conveyor.

    • A sprocket and a module for forming a heavy duty, smooth top, straight running conveyor belt which is easy to clean and which uses a center transverse tooth member to receive a driving force from an intermeshed sprocket is disclosed. Each of the modules is suitable for being pivotally connected with a multiplicity of similar modules by pivot rods to construct a conveyor belt. Each of the modules includes first and second pluralities of link ends which are aligned in the module to form first and second pivot axes. Each of the link ends have a topmost portion which has a width which is just less than the space between two adjacent link ends on the same module, such that when intermeshed with link ends of another module a continuous, flush, smooth top surface is provided. The pluralities of link ends of each of the modules are joined by an integrally molded smooth top connecting structure which includes a tooth member extending downward and parallel to the pivot axis. The tooth member further defines driving surfaces on opposite sides for receiving a driving force from a drive recess of a cooperating sprocket to move the module and the belt constructed from a multiplicity of the modules. To achieve tracking, the bottom portion of each link end is substantially narrower than the topmost portion such that spaces are provided between the intermeshed link ends. A multiplicity of tracking teeth are also provided on the cooperating sprocket which are received by the space between the intermeshed link ends.

    • Lines of various slopes and positions are generated simply in a computer aided manual drafting system. Such lines may be drawn with a modified puck manually movable over a surface to control the position of a cursor in an electronic computer display, and may be stored for later adoption in a manually directed computer aided drafting step. The puck senses two spaced positions on a surface over which it moves, thereby to define the slope of a line positioned with a datum point at the cursor location positioned by the puck in a conventional manner. Lines in this system are defined by two points in a coordinate system, namely a datum position point and a slope position point. This format affords simplified entry, processing and storage of line data in a computer. Such lines are electronically formulated in a graphical representation on a visual graphical display in response to manual controls, either directly on line from simplified puck manipulation, or from stored line data to be positioned and controlled in a graphical display by puck manipulation. Thus, unique lines are generated by locating a cursor position with the puck to define a line location (datum) and by moving the puck to define another point spaced from the datum point thus defining the slope of the line relative to the cursor position.

    • A conveyor belt composed of interconnected identical modules of integral plastic molded construction. Each of the modules includes a multiplicity of elongated parallel spaced link elements having first and second pluralities of link ends and an intermediate section of a grid-like structure between the link ends. The link ends each include a portion projecting from one side of each of the link elements along the pivotal axis of the module. The portions extend from the same facing side for each group of link ends, such that when adjacent modules are linked together the projecting portions of adjacent link ends are rotated 180.degree. with respect to each other, in that the projecting portions of the link ends of each adjoining module extend in opposite directions. Thus, the flat sides of the linked ends of mated modules are in engagement to provide only a very small offset in the line of pull through the adjacent link elements to minimize bending forces in the links and link ends.
