摘要： A continuous coater of the type having a conveyor extending through a coating booth where paint or other material is sprayed onto the products as they are conveyed through the booth. The booth has an air flow control vestibule located adjacent the entrance and exit ports. Each vestibule is connected to an air flow exhaust system and is so configured that it is operative to draw air almost exclusively from outside the booth into the exhaust system so that there is a minimum of input air to the exhaust system from within the booth. The incoming air from outside the booth effectively forms a flow barrier to the egress of sprayed material and/or solvent to the atmosphere through the vestibule entrance and exit ports. Preferably, there is located in each vestibule means for creating an air curtain which functions to minimize the egress of paint or solvent from the coater cabinet and to provide a more nearly saturated atmosphere inside the cabinet.

摘要： A system for spray coating a substrate such as a flexible web of plastic film with a gas barrier coating containing a polymer dispersion. The system includes a spray coating booth or chamber including spray nozzles dispensing a spray of coating material onto the surface of a web of material continuously moving into and out of the coating chamber. A series of feed rollers move the web into the coating booth into proximity to the spray nozzles such that on actuation of the nozzles a stream of coating material coats both sides of the surface of the web with a wet coating layer. The coating booth includes a system for containing and removing the airborne liquid overspray carried from the booth with the web without disturbing the wet coating on the web and without substantially drawing of overspray from the coating chamber.

摘要： A system for spray coating a substrate such as a plastic container with a gas barrier coating of a polymer dispersion. The system includes a spray coating booth or chamber including spray nozzles dispensing a spray of a coating material onto the surface of a series of containers continuously moving into and out of the coating chamber, an oven for drying the wet coating to remove the water from the coating to form a dried film on the container without distorting the container, and a conveyor for transferring the containers into the coating booth into proximity to the spray nozzles such that on actuation of the nozzles a stream of coating material coats the surface of the bottles with a wet coating layer and, thereafter, to the oven where the wet coating is dried. Means are provided for rotating the bottles during coating, during transport between the spray coating booth and the oven, and while in the oven. The coating booth includes a system for containing and removing both airborne and liquid overspray from the booth, and a dual delivery system for delivering the coating material to the spray nozzles and for reverse flushing the delivery system. The system operates to provide a continuously moving series of containers with a spray coating at production rates suitable for commercial applications.

摘要： A coating apparatus for applying a stripe of fluid coating material over the longitudinal seams of a series of can bodies moving along a can forming line with the coating apparatus within the interior of the can bodies including a fluid manifold module removably secured to an end cap member and communicating with sources of air and fluid coating material under pressure through the end cap member, a coating module removable secured to said end cap member and having a pneumatically operated valve therein for selectively opening and closing a fluid flow passageway to control the discharge of coating material onto the seams of can bodies, and preferably a solenoid valve mounted in the air flow passageway in the fluid manifold module adjacent the coating module for controlling the flow of air to operate the coating material valve. The coating apparatus having the solenoid mounted directly adjacent the coating module is characterized by its relatevely high cycle rates and relatevely small diameter with the overall coating apparatus being very easy to disassemble for maintenance, repair or replacement of components.
