    • Apparatus and methods for simulating a sheet source with a line source for determining normalization coefficients for the detectors in positron emission tomography (PET) scanners and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scanners. A line source, oriented perpendicular to the axis of a scanner gantry, is moved along the axis while the detectors are stationary and positioned substantially parallel to the plane in which the source moves. In another embodiment, an axially mounted line source moves parallel to a diameter of the gantry while the stationary detectors are positioned substantially parallel to the plane in which the source moves. In still another embodiment, the line source is stationary and positioned parallel to the gantry axis and off center while the detectors move relative to the line source. A shaped attenuator is placed around the source in this last embodiment.

    • The present invention provides a method for preparing silica containing molecular sieves which may be mixed with an organic polymer to create a mixed matrix membrane. Further, this invention includes a method of making such a mixed matrix membrane and the membrane itself. A process for separating component gases from a mixture using the subject mixed matrix membrane is also described. The method for preparing silica containing molecular sieves comprises super water washing silica containing molecular sieves to produce water washed molecular sieves which are substantially free of surface remnants. Super water washing also ideally lowers the concentration of alkali metals in the molecular sieves. The water washed sieves are sufficiently free of surface remnants such that when the water washed sieves are subjected to a Sieve Wash Conductivity Test, a wash filtrate is produced having a conductivity of less than 110 micro mhos/cm, more preferably less than 80 micro mhos/cm, even more preferably less than 50 micro mhos/cm, and most preferably less than 30 micro mhos/cm. It is believed that super washing the sieves to this degree will enhance, compared to conventional preparation techniques, the ability of the molecular sieves to bond with an organic polymer to form a highly selective and permeable mixed matrix membrane.

    • Some application modules of a sidebar comprise a list of items. For example, an email module comprises message items while a photo slideshow does not comprise items. In known sidebars, the number of items in an application module display area is not discrete. For example, in an email module the last item in the list can be partially displayed. In one embodiment, application modules that comprise items are forced to display a whole number of menu items. When a user resizes an application module, the application module will “snap” to fully include or fully exclude an item as opposed to displaying a partial item. A whole item display format can also be implemented in an application module's slidesheet.

    • A process for the hydroisomerization of a waxy feed having a major portion boiling above 650° F. to produce a lubricating base oil having a lower pour point, said process comprising (a) passing the waxy feed along with hydrogen gas through a hydroisomerization zone maintained at a hydrogen partial pressure of between about 100 psia and about 400 psia, said hydroisomerization zone comprising a catalyst bed containing at least two active wax hydroisomerization catalysts, said catalysts comprising at least (i) a first catalyst comprising an active hydrogenation component and a 1-D, 10-ring molecular sieve having a maximum crystallographic free diameter of the channels equal to 6.2 Å units or greater and (ii) a second catalyst comprising an active hydrogenation component and a 1-D, 10-ring molecular sieve having a maximum crystallographic free diameter of the channels equal to 5.8 Å units or less, wherein the weight ratio of molecular sieve contained in the first catalyst to the molecular sieve contained in second catalyst in the hydroisomerization zone falls within the range between about 2 to 1 and about 12 to 1; and (b) recovering from the hydroisomerization zone a lubricating base oil having a lower pour point as compared to the waxy feed.
