    • A ballast housing has a bottom wall, a sidewall extending in a first direction from the bottom wall, and a first compartment that is defined between the bottom wall and the sidewall, with a first access opening remote from the bottom wall. The housing further includes an interior wall extending from its bottom wall in the first direction and is located completely within the first compartment, and a second compartment that is defined by the interior wall and is isolated from the first compartment by the interior wall. The second compartment includes a second access opening adjacent the bottom wall. A first component can be disposed in the first compartment and a second component can be disposed in the second compartment with the second compartment isolating the second component from the first component in the first compartment.

    • A luminaire housing includes a frame having a securing member, a door panel movable between open and closed positions relative to the frame, and a hinge member. The hinge member pivotally connects the door panel and the securing member and includes a fixed end portion, a first angled ramp portion, a second angled ramp portion, and a centering portion. The fixed end portion is attached to the door panel and the first angled ramp portion extends from it. The fixed end portion includes an open hinge surface. The second angled ramp portion extends from the first angled portion and the centering end portion extends from the second angled ramp portion, forming a closed hinge surface between them. The open hinge surface of the first hinge member is in contact with the securing member of the frame when the door panel is in the open position. The closed hinge surface is in contact with the securing member when the door panel is in the closed position allowing the first hinge member to be in continuous contact with the securing member when the door panel is moved between the open and closed positions.

    • A luminaire housing has a frame with a securing member, a door panel releasably coupled to the frame and movable between open and closed positions. A latch assembly on the door panel releasably secures the door panel to the securing member of the frame. The latch assembly includes a fastening member received in a fastener slot of the door panel, a safety spring latch with a top camming portion, an intermediate body poron extending from the top camming portion, and a guide leg member extending from the intermediate body portion and attached to the door panel. A slide lock has a rail hole that slidably receives the guide leg member and has an aperture for receiving the fastener member. The slide lock is movable between a locked position engaged with the securing member to lock the door panel in the closed position and a release position disengaged and spaced from the securing member to allow the door panel to move toward the open position and to allow the safety spring latch to engage the securing member.

    • A sheet metal housing for an HID luminaire which comprises a two piece, fold-up sheet metal housing which provides exceptional strength with minimal usage of materials to support a very heavy ballast therein. The sheet metal housing is suitable for a low cost highbay luminaire with high watt ballasts for Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium, Mercury Vapor (HID) light sources. The sheet metal housing provides reflector adjustability for different size lamps and light centers. A top sheet metal stamping defines a central ballast shelf on which a ballast is mounted, and first and second ends of the top stamping are bent 90.degree. on opposite sides of the central ballast shelf. The first and second ends of the top stamping are further bent back 180.degree. upon themselves to form a double wall. The first and second ends of the top stamping are further bent 90.degree. to project towards each other. The very ends of the first and second ends of the top stamping are further bent and interconnected to form a three wall top hanging system, and to form a top sheet metal housing. First and second ends of a bottom sheet metal stamping are bent 90.degree. about a central section to form a bottom sheet metal housing.
