    • A sorting apparatus for sorting elastic balls for cleaning the inner surfaces of heat transfer tubes of a heat exchanger. The apparatus comprises a casing having a cylindrical cross-section, an inlet pipe connected to an upper portion of the wall of the casing and adapted to introduce the elastic balls together with the cooling water, a substantially frusto-conical separation sleeve disposed at the center of the casing and having a peripheral wall in which formed are a multiplicity of apertures shaped and sized to permit only the worn out elastic balls smaller than a predetermined size to pass therethrough, an annular swirling passage defined between the inner peripheral surface of the casing and the outer peripheral surface of the separation sleeve and adpated to impart a swirl to the cooling water suspending the elastic balls and introduced into the casing, an outlet pipe connected to a lower portion of the wall of the casing and adapted for taking out the valid elastic balls greater than the predetermined size, and a discharge pipe also connected to the casing and adapted for discharging the worn out elastic balls which have been introduced into the separation sleeve.

    • Apparatus for removing foreign matter in liquid which includes a cylindrical housing, a radial inlet pipe provided on an upper portion of the housing, an outlet pipe axially mounted on the housing at the upper portion, a conical cylindrical filter disposed in the housing and connected to the end of the outlet pipe so as to discharge the liquid from the inlet pipe through said filter and the outlet pipe, a deflector for deflecting the liquid from the inlet pipe so as to swirl it round the filter, and an extracting pipe provided on the housing at the bottom portion. The filter extends conically from the inlet pipe or outlet pipe toward the bottom of the casing. The liquid from the inlet pipe is swirled by the operation of the deflector and directed downward by the position of the filter while swirling. The foreign matter in the liquid and deposited on the filter are swirled by the swirling liquid, condensed by centrifugal force and downward movement. The condensed foreign matters are extracted by an opening up of the extracting pipe.

    • The method and apparatus for concentration aqueous solution in accordance with the present invention is characterized in that a hydrophobic porous membrane through which vapor can permeate, but not liquid, is brought into contact with an aqueous solution containing a solute at a concentration of at least 30%, and the water contained in the aqueous solution at the interface with the membrane is evaporated and permeates through the membrane. A method and an apparatus of recovering temperature of an aqueous solution comprising an aqueous solution concentration step in which the aqueous solution contact with the membrane, the water being evaporated; and a dilution step in which the resultant concentrated solution is diluted; wherein a temperature is obtained higher or lower than that of said aqueous solution. The method and apparatus for concentrating an aqueous solution can be used as a means or apparatus for concentrating an aqueous solution in a dilution type of heat pump, an absorption type of heat pump or an absorption type of refrigerator. Aqueous solutions for high-temperature outputs of dilution systems include aqueous solutions of sulfuric acid, nitric acid, etc., and for low-temperature outputs include aqueous solutions of potassium nitrate, sodium nitrate, etc. and further for absorption systems include aqueous solutions of NaClO.sub.3, lithium bromide, etc.
