    • A polyimide solution is prepared by a process wherein a tetracarboxylic acid ingredient containing at least about 80% by mole of 3,3',4,4'-biphenyltetracarboxylic acid or its functional derivative and an aromatic diamine ingredient containing at least about 50% by mole of 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl ether are polymerized at from about 100.degree. to 300.degree. C. in phenol or a halogenated phenolic compound; the amount of the acid and diamine ingredients being approximately equimolar to each other; whereby polymerization of the tetracarboxylic acid ingredient and the aromatic diamine ingredient is effected while being accompanied by imidation. Preferably, the polymerization accompanied by imidation is effected in a manner such that at least a second half of the polymerization is carried out in a closed reaction system. The resulting polyimide solution is suitable for making therefrom shaped articles, such as films, possessing excellent mechanical properties.

    • A bulging wall portion, which forms a connector accommodation portion by bulging outward from a side wall, is formed in a cover plate portion of a cover. The bulging wall portion has an overhead wall formed such that it rises from the cover plate portion. A sloping wall is formed on the overhead wall such that roughly the center in the width direction of the connector accommodation portion serves as a vertex and the sloping wall slopes in downward gradients from the vertex toward both ends in the width direction. Water that flows down over the cover plate portion is caught by the overhead wall and flows downward along the sloping wall. The water is guided to both side faces on the outer sides in the width direction of the connector accommodation portion, so that it is drained off while avoiding the opening portions of the second through fourth connectors.

    • A driving circuit is provided, which is configured to supply a driving voltage and a driving current to an LED string. A first detection resistor is arranged on a path of the LED string. A voltage source outputs a control voltage having a level that corresponds to the target luminance level of the LED string, and a first threshold voltage that is proportional to the control voltage. A controller generates a gate pulse signal having a duty ratio that is adjusted such that the voltage drop across the first detection resistor matches the control voltage. A first driver drives a switching transistor of a DC/DC converter according to the gate pulse signal. When the voltage drop across the first detection resistor exceeds the first threshold voltage, a first comparator stops the switching operation of the switching transistor.
